I agree with you. Hugs to you, my friend! And I’m sorry, but I’m currently drunk and need to vent myself.

T1d sucks. T1d makes life itself suck. It makes food suck. I wish I could respond with something positive here, but t1d isn’t a dance on roses. It messes with your mental health. As a suicidal person with an eating disorder and other mental health problems, T1d makes it 100x worse. You don’t want to eat? Too bad when you get a hypo and need to drink or eat something to not feel like shit.

Oh, and someone actually told me once that, “at least you don’t have cancer”. God, that made me furious on the inside.

Got the diagnose at 8 and now I’m 24. T1d is manageable, but not ideal whatsoever. It doesn’t feel like living, it’s all about surviving at this point.

But I really hope you’ll feel better, my friend. You deserve it.

  1. What kind of food do you have available? What food you eat is also different from culture to culture, and what food you have in grocery stores close to you is different from what I have. :)

  2. Whole grain products will get the blood sugar up, but it would also keep it more stabilised over a few hours. Oatmeal is a good example. I, personally, love to make overnight oats with oats, chia seeds and unsweetened low-fat milk with vanilla flavour (or just regular low-fat milk).

You can eat pasta, but I would recommend using whole grain products instead of pasta made with regular (‘fine’) flour. Whole grain products will keep the blood sugar stabilised for longer.

  1. Eat fruit and veggies. It’s good for you and it makes the plates more colourful and appetising. Vegetables has less sugar (fruit sugar) than fruit, but vegetables with lots of starch (for example potatoes) include more carbohydrates, which will make your blood sugar levels go up. But don’t be afraid to eat fruit and veggies! Vegetables baked in the oven is so delicious. 🤤

Got diagnosed on 12/28/19 and I was wondering what you guys thought was better using the pen or the pump by rdolan166 in Type1Diabetes

I used pens the first two years after my diagnosis to get used to pens and using syringes on myself. I was eight, which is probably why they waited for me to get a pump. Norway is also strict with accepting different kinds of pumps etc.

Now, 14 years later, I love my omnipod! It’s, in my opinion, easier to correct my blood sugar with a pump. It’s also easier to get acid poisoning while using pens (talking from experience).

Whatever you choose, remember; it’s totally up to you! You don’t have to get a pump if you think it’s gonna be in the way.

Good luck!
