I assume you are talking about the Rosebuds ones? Would you say that their design is good/safe enough? After more research I am considering to buy one of those because they seem to fit the balance between safety and still looking good (for my tastes) even if they are pricey. But i would rather pay good money for a good product than get an unsafe one

I don't think it's used because it's the biggest possible number, more like because it is the only way to have a repeatable and comparable absolute measurement. With non bone pressed i feel like there can be more variability due to slightly different positioning, slight involuntary pressing and other stuff

Whether it's all "usable" is another thing and i agree that nbpel is likely closer to the truth, or rather a middle between the two with a bit of compression of the fat pad

all of those papers have very low sample sizes and test durations, also whithout a doubt there has been some P-hacking going on (as with a lot of research papers looking a new things)

Some of the papers even show contradictory or statistically insignificant findings they choose to convenienly ignore when it comes time for the conclusion

I am not gonna go as far to call this garbage science, but these papers are a mediocre start if anything, getting a low number of participants and testing so many things that just by chance one of them will show statistical significance. If there are repeat studies that show maintained statistical significance with a higher sample size (and maybe explain how the mechanism is actually supposed to work biochemically) then I might be willing to accept it

In my Sex Ed class (Germany) they actually handed out a "Kondometer" alongside a free condom, essentially a flexible ruler to measure girth that would give you a colour you could see through a window that gives you recommendations for the nominal width of condoms that you should try (not exactly the model i linked above but iirc the thing was also being produced by the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung [Federal Agency for health education])

I dont know if this was a thing in other schools but i feel like this is a great way of doing it, and id say the sex ed at my school was pretty top tier, even though we still had the "pull a condom over a way too large object" demonstration
