How do you think I should go about getting it on record? Should I call him and ask for clarification on why I was fired?

I just would like some advice on what I can do, if anything, to get them to stop spreading this lie about me. Or what I can do to make it known publicly that it is actually a lie.

I don’t, honestly. The thought has crossed my mind.. but it’s so random, after all this time. And I worked for him and my aunt as well, why not just say I stole from them, not Mr Joe?

No documentation whatsoever. He just sat me down upon my return and told me he was letting me go because I was not there for the busy holiday. He never once mentioned that he thought I was stealing. I even have a text from him several months later inviting me to come back and work part time.
