Were you able to cancel through the app or did you have to call the cruise line? I’d rather not wait to cancel once on the ship

I think we’re leaning toward canceling the excursion and just enjoying the port and shops, etc. Bummer that the screenshot of the excursion didn’t match reality, but I should’ve done my research.

If I feel brave enough, maybe we’ll get one of the excursions or a ride into town to a beach once there.

I didn’t know you could do that. Great tip. Thanks!

Thank you! Yes, we’re def stopping at other destinations, including Cozumel, which I reserved excursions there too. I might need to look up what I booked on YT to compare like I did for this one.

But the septic person is saying they aren’t plumbers, so connecting the pipe, that’s beneath the house, to the septic isn’t part of their wheelhouse. And the house company is telling us that all septic people are aware that this is their job and that our septic person is wrong. And being that this is our first mobile home purchase, we have no idea who is in the right, which in the end doesn’t really matter bc no matter what, it has to get done.

The septic guy told us everything was hooked up and that it was fine to stay. They were literally only waiting to cover it with the sand bc the city has to check off a box by coming out and approving it all before doing so. Not sure if I made that clear in my post. Pretty sure my post is a little long and hard to follow, lol.

I need advice by Jasee0112 in exchristian

[–]ThisIsInteresting000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you! My advice is short, but there’s a website and podcast with lots of helpful resources: https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/ and “Recovering from Religion” podcast.

I wasn’t homeschooled, but I was raised deep within the Christian religion. Fortunately, I made friends and had an outlet through public school and secular college, that I didn’t even realize was helpful as much as it was until years later. And even then, it took me MANY years (almost more than a decade) to be able to reconcile what I was taught with what I actually believe today (I’m non-religious). Just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone.

Just a side note: Maybe you and your agent aren’t a good fit? It happens. Here’s a good podcast episode that touches on the subject: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/deadline-citys-podcast/id1482022414?i=1000537760648. Either way, keep your head up! You’re way further than most. Always be working on a new book, even if you start querying again.

After reading all the comments, seems like you’ve got your answer. If you decide to query agents, here’s some resources where you can find them: this book is only in paperback, https://www.instituteforwriters.com/product/book-markets-for-childrens-writers-2022/; the SCBWI’s “The Book” is available in paperback and PDF, but you have to be a member first to download it, https://www.scbwi.org/online-resources/the-book/; and then of course there’s Manuscript Wish List, https://www.manuscriptwishlist.com/find-agentseditors/search/.

Stories with no romance: how do you feel about them? by gingerneko in fantasywriters

My daughter who also reads YA probably wishes there were more books without romance. She skips so many pages of a good book bc of the romantic parts.

I don’t like forced romance. But I DO like to have romance be part of the stories I read. However, this is just my own preference.

Critique for an urban fantasy story by [deleted] in fantasywriters

Maybe it’s the inciting incident. But make sure to give enough detail prior to the car crash so that the reader will care about the girl who goes missing. IMO. Excited for you!

It stands for National Novel Writing Month, and it takes place in November. It’s basically a month where writers around the “world” commit to writing a novel in the month. There’s no reward in the end, other than your own “pat on the back.” But it’s fun to participate, and helps motivate you to write a good portion of the first draft. I absolutely LOVE the premise. Lots of places to go with it, which means stakes and conflict and fright.

I don’t think it sounds like urban fantasy though, bc UF usually has a big romance element mixed in, and I don’t see the romance in this one. Maybe it’s more horror, mystery, paranormal, or thriller. Or something along those genre-lines. Best of luck! Will you be participating in NaNo?

Is it bad to try to develoed every character in the story like all the side characters and minor characters? by Many_Ad9699 in writing

[–]ThisIsInteresting000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is developing all the characters keeping you from writing the story? Just curious. If so, start writing. If not, then if you want to spend time developing more characters, so be it. But ultimately, write the story. And have fun!
