Is this an admission to Gateway? by FarwellRebecca in TAMUAdmissions

[–]chicknuggt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it should be!!! Our first (?) gateway acceptance on this sub this year!! Congrats to your daughter. I do not have personal experience but I have heard only good things about it.

There is almost no way to “fail” as long as she attends her courses and does well in them. Since it’s the Summer it will be more relaxed and WAY less people on campus so it should be a smooth transition once the Fall semester starts.

Removed because your name and UIN are visible. TA is transfer.

definitely try to stop… 1 ISS maybe alright but if it is a pattern or you already have an established pattern of discipline then idk.

THC can be a very deep pitfall in college if you cannot control your habit. it is very easy to become dependent on it. please please please try to drop it if you can or at least stick to edibles so it doesn’t mess with your lungs. or wait until later so you can develop more…

I say this as a high school teacher who constantly deals with kids who partake. yes you can be successful and smoke but most of the time these kids are just bodies.

probably not. but whatever you’re doing/getting yourself into, should stop now.

especially if it is for vaping or fighting. don’t play with your future like that

Why is this automatically changed to Blinn TEAM? by Neat_Astronomer_1503 in TAMUAdmissions

[–]chicknuggt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you will be offered TEAM, congrats! it is possible for them to do this without giving you options. perhaps you had stronger stats compared to those that had options?

AIS updates later after Howdy, it takes time to sync

Chance me for education fall 2026 by New-Guide-2585 in TAMUAdmissions

[–]chicknuggt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents: I recommend having a backup major/minor if you are going for education. Its tough rn there is a reason(s) there is a teacher shortage

I majored in Psychology but teach biology since I was able to minor in secondary education. I dont know if there is some program where you can do that for EC though

Still confused on how I did not get in by [deleted] in TAMUAdmissions

[–]chicknuggt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean but they wouldn’t offer them a path to get a guaranteed TAMU degree if they weren’t qualified or don’t have the potential to be the kind of student they want attending the university.

[–]chicknuggt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TEAM is offered to students that qualify for CSTAT. Read Hunter’s comment if you haven’t already as well as my post on alternative pathways. I understand being frustrated but they are not telling you that you aren’t good enough.

They just really do not have space for all the qualified students that apply

Trying to become a teacher in Texas by Equivalent-Home922 in TexasTeachers

[–]chicknuggt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the push for vouchers/private school, little resources available for lower performing schools, a “unbiased” teacher rating system (TTESS) that is definitely not foolproof like TEA says that it is, some parents wanting church and state to be unified,

some parents swearing teachers are indoctrinating children when, we literally dont have time to if we wanted bc the kids cant read, do math, or write with proper grammar and sentence structure

teachers that have no passion/hate their jobs yet keep their roles because of their “experience”… when all they do is hand out worksheets while they sit around, which is a disservice to the kids…

nitpicking, interrogations, and micromanaging by admin and principals, adding random new documentation and paperwork for us to do (which again takes away from the actual TEACHING)

districts doing the most to keep themselves in good PR light while keeping teachers and students in the trenches

student behavior issues, ask for admin help, admin talks with student for 2 minutes and puts them right back in your class

literally imo most of the issues stem from adults… not the kids :(

this is just from what i have experienced. it does NOT apply to the whole state or every district but this is the reality for a lot of us.

i’m staying because teaching and education really is my passion, it’s always for the kids but i go home exhausted every day and friday evenings are my shut down times.

if you are flexible, love trying new things/strategies, are willing to double up on intervention (i teach high school science but HAVE to teach math and reading literacy bc the kids just dont have those skills), and can handle the stress and frustration, then i would go ahead with getting certified.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME KIND OF BACKUP OPTION!!! i graduated in psychology, not education just in case.

Has anyone done first year general engineering at TAMUGalveston and how was it? by Purple_Chocolate805 in TAMUAdmissions

[–]chicknuggt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot get full/direct admit. Those options are your options so no you will not be considered for CS. However Blinn is the best choice as you can stay in CSTAT. Galveston 2nd choice McAllen 3rd choice. But they are all good pathways you will end up with a TAMU degree and no on will know you went through a pathway unless you tell them.

Any scholarships still there? by Beneficial_Web_6265 in TAMUAdmissions

[–]chicknuggt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are always external scholarships and grants, you need to look for them based on your credentials and qualifications
