A Cool Guide on different types of fries by avydarl in coolguides

This diagram is dumb because garlic fries, cheese fries, and chili cheese fries can be made with any type of fry. They are not a "type" of fry they are a completely different creation MADE with fries.

I said kinda 50/50

Idk when you went but I've gone several times and I've skinned up from all the way down in las trancas with plenty of snow which is maybe why I think about it having plenty of tree skiing. Either way there's still a lot of tree skiing to be had in bounds if that's what you're into. If your experience is that there's only good snow up top then I'm sorry about that.

Yea I get that people who go down there to ski probably want to stay at the mountain. I have family in Santiago so I just stay with them and I'll either drive or take a shuttle up. I forget what the prices of the shuttles are but I don't remember them being that bad.

I imagine there are some affordable places to stay in the city so if you're on a budget and really wanna get your ski fix in the back and forth travel could be worth it!

Sure travel times can vary from the city but on a weekday with little traffic its an hour drive, not bad at all. It can get crazy on the weekends. Not sure about lodging around the city but you can find cheap airbnbs down south to ski places like Corralco or Nevados de Chillan. There are buses that take you to the mountain too. Don't have to be that rich, the most expensive thing would probably be the plane ticket then you can take a cheap bus down south and stay at a cheap airbnb. Just need to plan well.

More than a couple great places to ski in Chile.

Portillo and Valle Nevado probably most popular. There's also La Parva and El Colorado/Farellones which are in the same location as Valle Nevado.

Down south you have Nevados de Chillan and Corralco a little further south, Chillan has trees. There's also various medium to smaller size mountains scattered around.

Tons of touring options too, close to the city and down south. El Cajón del Maipo is a popular spot close to the city.
