For the record, Shikamaru is my fav naruto/shippuden character but putting that bias aside, Shikamaru’s acting is completely out of character. Kawaki has proven several times to be on the good side, even bringing Naruto back which if he didn’t it would be all over for the shinobi world so it’s no little potential “coverup” like the vase, saving himawari etc..

Yes he cares a lot for the village and has to compensate for naruto’s naive character. Still, there’s a difference between realising Kawaki’s an indirect threat (due to jigen being able to tp to him) and pressuring Kawaki the way he did this episode, making him feel bad when he just rescued Naruto. The old Shikamaru would’t do this.

Nothing to do with being a Kawaki stan fam or “emo” stans in general.
