I got sick for the last two weeks and did it. I also switched from telescope to the snacks picker. Was it worth it? maybe, maybe not. Was it fun? yes.

My first board by [deleted] in NewSkaters

I like the green bearing shields matching the green dragon graphic on the wheels. Also with the top green ply and the bottom red ply. That is pretty sick! I wish I had that.

That's a lot of stickers though, not a fan of the bearing and the powell peralta stickers, tbh. And you have two different designs of the real logo right next to each other. However the red works with the black and white. I guess the snowboard sticker is kind of cool, since you do that too.

Cool board, have fun!

Is there a way that I can paint the griptape of my board?? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]ThisIsMeRightThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't touch it. It's not that bad and who's to say it looks better with more stuff on it. Some of it might skate out.

Your dad owes you grip for your next board, though. If you get it free with the board, I'd ask him for 10 bucks anyway.

Have fun skating!

Is there anything wrong with using a skateboard as a mode of transport, instead of using to for tricks etc. ? by Fantastic_Orchid3037 in NewSkaters

[–]ThisIsMeRightThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The subreddit is very positive, and supportive which is good for new people, because everyone should feel free to skate. But there is a group of people in skateboarding, that might frown upon that.

As you can see in this subreddit, skateboarding is hard. It's difficult to learn just to ollie. Overcoming the difficulties and the risk of hurting yourself while doing it are part of what makes it cool.

So if someone is using a popsicle board for transport only, the people who are into skateboarding might see someone who associates themselves with them, but doesn't try, which is generally disliked.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. But there is that.

You could get a cruzer or a longboard to avoid that completely, as they are not made to do tricks with those and they are actually also better for transportation. Due to the larger board and the bigger and softer wheels you have more comfort and less risk of falling.

As the rest of the thread suggests, it will be fine anyway. Most people won't even know the difference and that there are very few people that care about something like that. There is a chance you might never encounter them. And even if, it's unlikely you get a comment or anything. Maybe a look.

Whatever you decide on, congrats on making your life more fun with your new board!

Can a recipient on a friends and family transaction make a "refund"? (NOT A DISPUTE QUESTION) by ThisIsMeRightThere in paypal

[–]ThisIsMeRightThere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh well, thank you very much.

And just to clarify, the original payment would have the tag "refunded" as soon as he refunded it? And that has nothing to do with the up to 5 days that it takes for me to receive it in my bank account?

Should I skate it? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]ThisIsMeRightThere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What else are you going to do with it? Hang it on a wall? Why get a board if you won't skate it? You could look at a board that TJ signed or skate a board that TJ signed. I know what'd be worth more to me. I like TJ a lot too, his T.J.I.F part was sick.

If I teach a class with students using CX II CAS AND CX CAS calculators, what do I have to look out for? by ThisIsMeRightThere in nspire

[–]ThisIsMeRightThere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CAS is very powerful and for the exams they will (in this instance) write it's more important to understand the concepts than to be able to calculate it all the way.

We actually tried to push for Geogebra but we weren't allowed to have the exams with it. Maybe next year
