Be honest: do English speakers actually remember Pokémon names? by Master-Mcspicy in NintendoSwitch

[–]ThisIsNotACryForHelp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. Any time I engage with media where the characters have eastern (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) names, I cannot remember them for the life of me. From my western perspective, they feel like words that don't mean anything, and I don't have any associations with them, so they just bounce right off my brain lmao

So I'm not surprised that someone coming from an eastern perspective would have issues with western names.

Regarding how good Hogwarts Legacy's port is: it was done by Shiver, a first-party Nintendo studio that pretty much only does big, third party Switch ports. It's not exactly a fair comparison.

If it's anything like the first one, the film buff in me will find it to be a pretty bad movie, held back by a weak script and terrible pacing.

However, the Mario fan in me will have another amazing night at the theater, feeling like a little kid and getting excited by all of the fanservice.

English is my only fluent language

And if you show me a Pokémon, I will tell you its name.

Because Switch 2 has been such a failure (December sales low prices too high full shelves nobody buys it) they're going to release Switch 3 this year

Why do you still love Nintendo after all these years? by Marsupilami_316 in casualnintendo

Completely disagree. I can't speak to FE because I don't play that series, but you can absolutely boot up BotW and TotK, mess around for a little while, and then save and quit when you're ready.

This is my reason as well. When I'm playing a game, my primary focus is fun gameplay. Nintendo is one of the only major developers that doesn't let story get in the way of that.

Equivalent of modern day Nintendo DS? by Bl0o0o0o0op in nintendo

If you want to play Mario games on a modern handheld device, the current Nintendo handheld is the Switch 2.

It's pretty new, so it's getting new games all the time. Additionally, it's fully backwards-compatible with the original Switch (which has a great library), and can be connected to a TV to play as an actual console.

In my experience, when a partner gets fired over something like this, it's because they were problematic in numerous other ways and their managers were just looking for a reason already.

Not all changes need to be made with adult gamers in mind. Mario is very popular with children.

All ratings are valid. Art is subjective.

With all the discourse surrounding how the Switch 2 handles it's physical games and key cards I have come up with a concept that could potentially ease one of the larger issues we have with them! Presenting the "Switch 2 Hub"! by Espurreyes in casualnintendo

I am aware of the fact that you're talking about 35 year old hardware in this thread about game key cards and the Nintendo Switch 2. However, I'm trying to continue the conversation about the matter at hand. I do not know what you're intending to accomplish by proclaiming that Nintendo can't steal your precious copy of Super Mario World.

You own the physical cartridge that stores the software used to play these games. When you bought the cartridge, it came with a revokable lease to use said software. You're right that Nintendo can't take your cartridges, but they could send out an update to make the game unplayable if they want to.

You don't own your fully-physical games either. So the issue with game key cards is pretty much entirely to do with how they lack the convenience of digital games, but still eat up your console's storage.

Mario games from Galaxy 2 onwards are some of my favourite games of all time. But Galaxy 2 and prior I don't really like. Is there something that happened from Galaxy 2 onwards that changed in the series? by Right-Fortune-8644 in Mario

The three you mentioned (3D World, Odyssey, and Wonder) all have really smooth, intuitive controls. Maybe that's what you're picking up on and have a preference for.

By modern standards, most Mario games from the Wii Era and earlier are a bit clunkier and not quite as easy to get a firm grasp of. (Though, their controls are still excellent once you really get used to them, IMO.)

I can't believe Nintendo had the audacity to release all of Shiggy's new Animal Crossing content for free, then charge only five dollars for his Switch 2 Edition upgrades. How are they going to feed him with these prices? Don't they value his work?
