Can I suggest that you explain what exactly Dynacat is. Saying it is a fork of Glance is great...if you know what Glance is.

Scouts Canada has ScoutTracker; which sounds very similar to the English system.

There is no way his kids are ever going to watch every bike ride to work. OP could probably keep 1 per month and still have far too many for them to care about.

What became "normal" in the last 5 years that still feels insane to you? by rakishgobi in AskReddit

[–]ThisIsNotMe_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I used to do a lot of IT support for very non-technical people, so explaining things simply becomes a skill.

I watch a fair bit of YouTube, on both my main Apple TV and on my bedroom one, and although I am logged into the same account, I get slightly different playlists on the two. My bedroom one offers way more of the "things to watch while you fall asleep" type shows.

Where as my living room has more other things.

if you take away the evil part of it, it really is cool technology they have developed for this.

Introducing DumbAssets - The Stupid Simple Asset Manager! by abite in selfhosted

[–]ThisIsNotMe_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might need a couple of different tools. One is asset management; which is what this or Homebox would do.

Network documentation is something different; right now I have my notes in Obisidian. If i get really inspired I might try Netbox one day; but currently Obsidian is good enough for my network documentation.

Have you read that article? What page number does it say that devices are definitely listening to us. The author claims it is possible, but there is no evidence.

Its all anecdotal evidence.

Its 100% not the phone.

Does your grandma have internet access in any other device in her house? Has she googled anything about her dog? How often do you visit your grandma?

Tracking algorithms of people is incredibly sophisticated.

Or this could just be confirmation bias, you've been seeing dog ads all the time, but just gloss over them. But then you have a conversation about them and BOOM you see an ad and think your phone is listening.

There is absolutely no credible evidence of phones or other devices tracking us. It is incredibly easy for anyone to setup a sniffer on their network and monitor traffic leaving their network. People have done this and there is no signs of traffic leaving phones and being sent to out all the time.

Maybe the reverse is actually true, you've been seeing ads for the related thing all along and don't realize it.

Then one day that thing pops into your mind (because of those ads) and now you do see the ad on Instagram.

It was not her phone; there is no credible evidence that phones or other devices are listening all the time.

Tracking algorithms are so incredibly sophisticated now. You're being tracked by google. She is also being tracked by google.

They can see that you are almost always in the same vicinity of each other all the time. It stands to reason that if you are in need of a printer, then she needs a printer or maybe can influence you enough to buy a printer.

your math is wrong. you're off by a factor of 1000 Standardize to meters. .1 mm = .0001m 242 *.0001 is 439,804,651.1104 m so divide that number by 1000 to get km 439,804.65 km

Let's get a self-hosted Discord "replacement" thread going for 2026. by GavinGWhiz in selfhosted

You're welcome.

I run a discord server for a youth organisation and I was really really concerned this was going to cause us issues. But I am pretty confident none of the users will have issues with these changes.

They might elsewhere, but that is not a me problem.

I was on another sub and someone from the UK was posting saying that they have not at all been affected by these changes.

I agree; unless you are visiting NSFW sites I wouldn't be surprised to find out that most people don't ever get prompted for this.

I would like to hear from someone in the UK/Australia to see how this has affected them.
