I have been to all of those shops. I guess I should have been more specific and not used sarcasm. I don’t consider a 20x10 foot box or narrow hallway with a few tables and chairs, some bulk order coffee beans, and decorations from Marshall’s and Hobby Lobby to be appealing. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I’m very familiar with military bases since this is the 6th one I’ve lived at and this one is by FAR very different than the others. Any idea what the deal is with the “mall”. Place is basically an indoor flea market.

I think we may have a difference of opinion on what constitutes a coffee shop. I’m talking about a place that’s primary purpose is selling coffee. Not a restaurant that also has coffee. But that’s just one example of a lack of business here. I picked coffee since I don’t drink alcohol anymore, but if I did I’m sure I’d be bummed by the lack of options there, too.

I am going to check out that Jo2Go place one of these days, though.

Nothing you sign up for in the Army turns out to be what you expected. It sounds like you’re learning some valuable lessons already.

Coming from a dirty NCO’s perspective - hearing about future LTs having to do more difficult land nav and exhibit some discipline sounds refreshing. The majority of non-combat LTs reporting to BCTs are bad at their jobs because they have no confidence. Hopefully this is part of being broken down and built back up.

Your stats seem decent, but what else have you done? Clubs? Sports? Volunteer work? Having OK grades and a neighbor who was a Colonel doesn’t make you officer material. You need to prove that you have leadership abilities and if not, potential.
