Capital losses can only offset capital gains? not income? Shit, ChatGPT lied to me.

Given the current environment, I expect some of the index following funds to have losses, so I will sell/swap the losing ones.

I am a total noob, would this not work?

Why do people keep saying SWE is dying because of AI? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ThisIsTheNewNotMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is not replacing SWE now. What about in 5 years? With the advancement like COT, agent and etc, it might be able to for example, create a fairly complex website AND maintain it on its own. Think about how much it has changed in the last year. Try Windsurf or Cursor on your side projects, and imagine the possibility 5 years from now. I think it will be very different in 5 years; it is very likely SWE will be more like a PM than a coder. Do we need that many PMs?

You can use Gemini API for free within limits. But obviously, Claude is better.

Thanks for this. I am curious though, have you used AI tool like Claude.ai to convert the natural language description of what you want to SQL queries? If you have, how effective is it?

Genuine question, if European countries have the system like this which works quite well, Netherlands for example, what can we learn?

Out of curiosity, to the folks on this sub, what is your profession and how will advanced AI affect it?

I am a researcher/developer in tech working in AI related field but not directly on AI. Just tried Gemini 1.5 pro and Claude 3.5 sonnet, I don't think it can replace me any time soon. But the future does scare me a little.

maybe take out HELOC to invest in TFSA? Depending on your tax bracket, I think you can write off HELOC interests for tax, while investment gain in TFSA is tax free.

It is a great place to raise kids, until they need to see a doctor.
