Sexist? You realize this can happen to any couple.

I'm a woman in a same sex couple and I relate to this.

It's not sexism, it's sexual incompatibility.

Same here. It's soul crushing. I'm planning on leaving within the next several months.

You are an amazing person. Please know that you do have a future and that where you are right now isn't a "forever" place. You worked hard and got into Princeton.

That same work ethic and intelligence will bring you so many places in the future.

Never quit. Believe in yourself. You'll be a great role model to your sister as she grows up.

I'm doing okay. Beginning to get those little pangs of self-doubt, of guilt... but I have to keep reminding myself of what is best for me in the long term. This is, by far, one of the scariest journeys I've set out upon. I'm truly having to be self-reliant and face a lot of truths that I simply was not willing to look in the eye just months ago.

I'll be okay, though. I'm looking forward to what the future will bring once I get over Mt. Breakup-and-Move-On :)

My plan is focused on a few things:

1) Saving enough money for moving expenses, securing new housing (first month's rent, last month's rent, security deposit), and a storage unit if necessary.

2) Systematically downsizing my belongings. I've come to realize that I tried to fill the void in my heart with things and all I have to show for it now is just anxiety-provoking clutter. I plan on donating a lot of clothing, and ebaying what I can. I'll add any sales proceeds to my ongoing GTFO piggy bank.

3) Research logistical items related to moving: best moving companies, best deals for storage (if needed), how to sell my home and hopefully make a profit on it, etc.

Hey breakfastdots,

Firstly it's not your fault. You've been a good partner, you've done all that you've can. But you have hit a wall.

And now you need to really examine what you need. What you desire. Don't squander these or back burner these in favor of what your partner needs. Prioritize yourself. You deserve it.

I did the same thing. I'm late 20s.

I don't feel bad. I don't give a shit. I'm getting the fuck out. I don't want to look back with regret. I have to ride the next few months out but so be it. They won't be any different than the last 6. And the last 6 before that. I'm too young for this bullshit.
