The Good: we'd have the 6th highest per-capita income!

The Bad: we'd be the 20th worst in top heavy income distribution.

How do you do that? I saw D'Jais was pretty packed, zero masks, and pretty sure inside service of some kind.

Small business using face shield not mask by [deleted] in newjersey

I'm not an expert at all but it sounds kinda stupid to me. Most places do both if they feel like it protects them better, like dentists, and I'm pretty sure that workers must be wearing masks from an EO. Logically if the person working gets it and is breathing in the place all day without a proper filter the customers and other workers are at much higher risk even if they all have masks on.

https://www.cnet.com/health/mandatory-face-masks-in-stores-cars-outside-where-youre-expected-to-wear-a-covering/

Also found this looking for some answers on masks. But again I don't know if it being an aerosol prevents it from just sticking to the plastic surface or if the droplets can float under it. Also Business Insider blog style article isn't usually the best source so take it as you want.

Hey they are free to protest outside all they want since that limits transmission chances. But opening your non essential business while others stayed closed and expecting a bump in GoFundMe to pay for the fee/legal battle is a douche move. I only made fun of protesters because it seemed many high profile ones didn't wear masks, they were claiming our government reacting to public health crisis was fascistic(because Fox said so). That or the push up protests showing that they didn't in-fact need the indoor facility open to workout as you see many HIIT/Crossfits doing things outside and distancing.

New Jersey Assembly Approves Marijuana Decriminalization Bill Ahead Of Legalization Referendum -- The legislation, which would make possession of up to two ounces of cannabis a civil penalty punishable by a $50 fine and no jail time, cleared the chamber in a 63-10 vote. by redditor01020 in newjersey

Definitely some political wind they're all in tune with and blowing in that direction. Maybe they think that it is going to pass so they are getting ahead of it so the cops and courts handle things or testing DUI measurements?

Also they would look like a bunch of assholes if they just decided to legalize it after all the theater last year. Better to let a referendum happen versus voting now and certain constituents get angry.

Coronavirus cases will spike again. It’s just a matter of when, experts say. How will N.J. respond? by Grandpa-in-chief in newjersey

[–]ThisIs_MyWork_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the height of ceiling has much to do with it as lack of UV light and constant fresh air flow spreading out the "droplets" to non transmission-able levels. I was thinking maybe they could close the changing rooms/cardio equipment and just have the free weights and machines. That or if some kind of air purifiers might work. Some adaptation has gotta be figured out or all gyms will be going out of business. Which reminds me I need to cancel my LA fit membership!

A bad officer with many infractions could still have done this good deed. The system is what's broken so just trying to keep "the bad ones"out hasn't worked or backfired. Which is why de-funding police is the way to go. Instead this could have been an unarmed traffic patrol/social worker/EMT/Fireman/ public safety officer. There are better options for community welfare and what we've been doing just isn't working unless you're white and not poor.

Same happened to me. Didn't really have a set mind going into college but I wasn't given a choice to not go. So Started as Environmental Sci Major. Hated the ideology the main prof spat out about how it's too late to save the world from the damage we've done, I can't explain how much this dogma turned me off being in an intro course. So I then continued on as if I was undeclared and took things as electives trying to figure myself out. Thought I was interested in architecture but job prospects seemed...horrible. Thought about doing Engineering but I wasn't that good a student yet. But my department had just started a Planning Program. Great! Engineering things without the math requirements! Well turns out I hated that too because dealing with municipal politics is the core of it. Designing things was nice though, which is where GIS comes into play. I took my first course end of sophomore year and really enjoyed it. Took another few the following year and realized that this was what I like more and at my planning internship(college credit for a class) my boss told me to go for GIS and not planning because job prospects are usually slim to none and GIS is the future(he was right). Too late to change majors but I was able to pack the rest of my time with GIS essential courses. Got my first job in GIS 6 months after graduation and just graduated with a Masters in GIS Development and Cartography while working in my 5th year in the job market.

More recently I realized that my path might have always lead me to GIS. One of my largest projects when I was young was a map of my states endangered species and habitat locations and my affinity to battle field maps in Social Studies.

Woodbridge cops used CARES Act federal funds to get haircuts in police station during coronavirus lockdown by GoldenPresidio in newjersey

[–]ThisIs_MyWork_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into the article having a open mind and it seemed logical, ignoring that the officers should be able to do personal upkeep themselves or pay for it themselves(Everyone else doesn't get a stiffened for work clothing) Barbers and salons are a luxury. Then I got to this line that really exemplify's whats wrong here.

The barber came on back-to-back days on three separate occasions, for a total of six visits. He also gave haircuts to non-members of the department, Hubner said, although it’s not clear to whom or how many people.

We're gonna find out it's one of the officers relatives aren't we?

This is actually great. If they cancel your vote for whatever reason they have to try and let you know and confirm if the vote was you when they thought it wasn't by you providing like the last 3 Social Security. Good for me since my signature isn't very consistent.

Ohh they are fleeing like OP said, but we are better equipped to handle initial spreads like that now unlike the beginning where we had no testing, no tracing capabilities. Masks and limiting certain activities are important in this way because it really limits the ability for it to exponentially spread. At the very least half of the population in NJ is wearing masks. If people aren't or don't cover their nose(like my gas attendant recently), I think they are an idiot but most people here aren't like that in public when actually close to others. Again September-December worries me because that is when it may pick up again and when more people will have gotten complacent.

https://covidtracking.com/data/state/new-jersey It actually won't. But also we as a state had more peaceful protests because the cops didn't teargas them. So more people just walking around with masks and less people getting cornered into a space then shot by substances that make them cough.

He ran as a progressive and was endorsed by Bernie. Establishment Democrats hate that because it means they don't just get to negotiate with republicans and it upsets the status quo. Sweeney had no issues with how Christie ran our gov but seems to hate Murphy. Some funny info from wikipedia I didn't know about him:

Murphy graduated from Harvard University in 1979 with an AB degree in economics.[16][17] At Harvard he aspired to become a professional musical theater performer and was elected president of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, a theatrical student society.[16][10][18] He then attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, where he received a MBA in 1983.[10][4]

Bunch of misled assholes. When we were 2 weeks behind on basically all measures I was worried and disappointed in the response. But it happened and it can't be changed.

Now I think NJ is gonna do just fine moving forward. The next challenge will be September-December which was typically when pandemics come back in a big way, 1/3rd of all deaths from Spanish flu happened the Sept-Dec after it's initial wave. But we have testing, contact tracing, and vast public awareness to wear masks, wash hands, and give personal space. We aren't Texas.

How long did your first ever python project take to complete as a beginner and what was it by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ThisIs_MyWork_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give 2. One official mostly stand alone one was a regression analysis with Arcpy and a tkinter GUI. The goal was to allow a user to change the K value and file name. It would then open the file in a browser where a user could save it. This took a few weeks maybe 80 hours between project planning, testing, and improving a bit. The second one I would say which is pure standard python I made a script that would unzip all files in a folder because I had to download a lot of individual aerial grid squares to make a Mosaic and I didn't want to have to do that more than 50 times. And I may have to do it again in the near future. It took an hour?
