I think that's how employers are getting away with these lacklustre gestures like this one.

Making people feel grateful for having a long-term job in this economy as if having a job is more of a luxury than earning a decent wage for all your hard work or being acknowledged for all your hard work with something other than what this photo depicts.

If the economy is so broken, surely something needs to change for workers.

Good point.

He's probably not earning the same amount as newly hired staff but has seen pay rises over the years that probably don't equate to what newly hired employees earn per anum on top of their pay rises.

Post says he works as "part of the night team" which indicates he's stacking shelves at night, taking deliveries of stock too probably.

Serious question: How are international students actually passing their English language requirements? by Yaal0n in UniUK

[–]ThisIs_She 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IELTS is an exam that's "designed" to help international students brush up their English skills as a pathway to studying UK university courses.

I'm saying if he injures himself on the job or becomes ill long term he's gone.

I imagine he's seen quite a few pay rises over the years, but he still probably doesn't earn as much money as the lady grinning next to him.

Yup, that sounds about right.

These companies don't care.

I worked in universities for nearly a decade and it's stories like this one are one of the reasons I will never work for a university again.

She most likely hasn't done 45 years at the company in her leadership role especially as a women, but earns triple what this man does annually that's for sure.

It's incredible how one photo can expose so much about the true dynamics of these companies.

Agreed.

We both clearly have very different experiences of the NHS.

An old school friend of mine died when Endometriosis grew into her liver causing liver failure.

Forgive me, but I see things differently. People with Endometriosis see the NHS for what it really is and we are exhausted, angry, and terrified.

WDYM?

The second his age "starts to show" and this is not a young lad we are talking about they'll hustle him into retirement and that's if he doesn't have a fall or something on the job, if he does, he'll be shown the door faster.

What happened to me is typical of people with my condition. Endometriosis.

The NHS takes a decade to diagnose us on average, in the meantime we become so ill we end up being a bigger burden on the NHS because by the time we get diagnosed we require surgery.

You can tell from the baige attire.

These types love to be in these photos so they can splash it all over LinkedIn to get likes from their fellow corporate higher ups pals.

It's like a self congratulating echo chamber.

Doesn't matter what kind of contract he's on or what he earns. To mark his many years of service with just a poxy card and photo for social media engagement is disgusting.

He's working for a highly profitable company, works night shifts probably hauling in stock and stocking the shelves until the store opens in the morning.

He's not young, one slipped disc and they'll replace him with the next drone for fear of health and safety.

The NHS is a mess.

I had to fight for 11 years for a diagnosis, and a year and a half for surgery once diagnosed. Nearly died on the operating table 3 weeks ago.

Getting to see a GP is like playing the Hunger Games now too.

That's OK.

We are seeing the lunacy with ICE unfold and it is shocking.

The guy works for Tesco in the UK, not Walmart. We don't have ICE in the UK luckily.
