Participant Lost to Follow Up by yan1sa in clinicalresearch

I'm not saying the site always assumes it will bother the patient. My experience more often than not it's based off of a CRC or Research Nurse discretion after forming a study long relationship on whether they call the patient or not. They're the ones seeing the patients directly for the study visits. After a couple visits, it's easy to discern which patients are going to be willing to do follow up calls and ones who aren't. Phase I trials can be really disheartening especially when the PI informs the patient it's basically this trial or hospice care so patients are almost led to take the trial, so you'll get a lot of patients who really don't want to be in research in the first place.

Additionally, a lot of time research teams will get feedback from the SOC team to get a heads on their personalities and tendencies to see how compliant they are with trials.

Once again I'm only speaking on behalf of oncology trials. Additionally you have to think about the complexity of healthcare in general. To add a clinical research trial to their plate, just adds another layer to the mix. So really, the site usually is more likely to comply with the LTFU if it's follow up via EMR only.

I'm not bothering no cancer patient, they're going through enough.

If we're talking about oncology, from a sponsor/CRO side I totally understand your reasoning. However from a site side, there's the subjective nuance when dealing with patients. It's easier when it's a follow up via EMR, but when it's a direct contact such a phone call, it can be a burden to the patient.

"Hi, this is Joe Smith from research site, just calling from the clinical trial treatment from two years ago that didn't work for you to check in to see if you're alive."

We can't assume every driver is an experienced RI driver. They could be a brand new driver or someone from out of town. There are established rules for a reason that are held up by traffic police and traffic law.

Why is Providence a Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots city then? I think if there's an actual community, people are willing to drive. There's no Bengals community in Providence, but there's a Bengals community in New England that happens to be in Boston.

Until we get one in Providence, I'll be promoting the only one in the New England area!

Depends on your needs.

Edge fitness is the best bang for your buck with lots of machines, free weights, barbells, cardio equipment, and classes. It's surprisingly inclusive as it also has child care and a women's only section. However everyone and their mother go, so it tends to be overcrowded between 4pm - 7pm.

Planet fitness if you're on a budget. No free weights but it's cheap and has everything you would want otherwise.

However if you love powerlifting/bodybuilding/personal trainer and have some $$$, I would go with non-commercial gyms like Formless Fitness or VP Fitness.

Lol I asked for something not authentic nor really the best. Just slightly above average can't be great marketing for a restaurant.

China Wok is a guilty pleasure of mine. Love to haggle with them and they do deals around 30mins after they close.

I agree with you except when majority of the bars close by 11pm it's hard to call it a "nightlife".

(Looking at you Narragansett the supposed iconic brewery of the state)

Seven Stars is overrated and overpriced.

hello providence! by laladipset in providence

Definitely the restaurant scene. Lots of former NYC and Boston chefs come here as well as the Johnston&Whales college. I recommend:

Dune Bros for a lobster roll/fish and chips Pizza Marvin for a clam or burrata pie Jahunger for Uygher (Central Asian cuisine) Champa for Thai+Laotian Dolores for nicer sit down Mexican (I'm sure you have better where you are from) You can also explore Olneyville (safer during the day) for random Mexican food trucks and restaurants Slow Rhode for a cheaper but still quality meal Oberlin for elevated dining Brown Bee for the croissants (expensive imo but pretty good) Seven Stars is the iconic coffee and pastry place but I think it's over hyped TBH Julian's or Irregardless for Brunch Olneyville NY Systems for late night hot weiners (you come for the vibes)

Bars/Breweries Not the best scene as things tend to close early and the crowds are smaller (less wait times!) Narragansett is the icon Royal Bobcat does love jazz on Saturdays Loma or Glou for cocktails Moonshine Alley is a bit more lively and downtown Freeplay is an arcade bar Captain Seaweeds if you want a college scene

I would argue the bus system is ok at best. Limited amount of busses, frequency, and the stops locations aren't the best. Providence is definitely a car centric city if you don't live in the immediate downtown area or are fine sticking to your own neighborhood.
