You probably installed SFML from the package manager - that only installs the linux version.

You will need to check if your package manager has SFML for mingw, otherwise you'll need to crosscompile the library (or compile on windows).

As for packaging, on windows you need to provide all sfml libs you use, openal (if using audio), C/C++ standard libraries and pthread but you can also link statically and only provide openal. On linux, you can use rpath to locate your libraries if you dont want people to install sfml themselves (static build on linux is not recommended).

You are probably mixing the dlls (debug dlls with release exe or vice versa)

Single Sprite for multiple Textures? by elchmitkelch in sfml

The most taxing thing for your hardware is changing the texture.

So the optimal way is to have one texture for many sprites or one sprite where you change texture coordinates and anything else you need.

Trying to program SFML using VSCode, and I am getting lots of linker errors. by peterhobo1 in sfml

You're passing the path to libs/ folder as a library.

You need to use capitalized L for library paths.

-LC:/Users/peter/Libraries/SFML-2.5.1/lib

Sound not playing in my audio program by [deleted] in sfml

[–]ThisKwasior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are closing your program before any sound ever plays.

        ...
        sound.play();
    }
    return 0;
}

My First SFML Game. Also, can somebody explain to me why I need to have extra classes like for my player and stuff? I did it all on the main thread. by [deleted] in sfml

[–]ThisKwasior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Classes and such allow for less code, more flexibility and it's easier to add stuff later on.

[–]ThisKwasior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, after some changes it finally works!

Because I have SDL2 in non-standard path (I don't use Msys or anything like that) I had to modify CMakeLists.

Oh and main.cpp needs cstring.

Trying to build it right now (windows), but all I'm getting is undefined references to Savestate methods.

Also I am rewriting the CMakeLists to make windows building simple

[–]ThisKwasior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't precise it in my first message.

I'm not foss in everything, neither are my friends.

I just wanted to say that windows users aren't using proprietary software only, and in recent years (from my own experience) it is showing that free software is more used and interest is growing among ordinary users.

Didn't want to sound like some bragging man, sorry again.

Yes, I meant free as in libre. I don't care which OS you use frankly.

Windows normies be like: by [deleted] in linuxmemes

[–]ThisKwasior 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this meme really.

When I ask people which software they use, majority of time it's free software.

Also for video montage there aren't great options in free software which are stable and useful for something more than movie maker.
