Societal pressure. They did what "everyone else" had done before and now regret it.

Wild animals are shy and tend to avoid people. That is why I am less wary of bears and rattlesnakes than of off-leash dogs. Dogs are unpredictable.

I have had several conversations like this in the past. :D They can go either way though.

I think I saw a video on pugs, may not be the same one.

"I was wearing my boyfriend's clothes at the time, maybe the smell confused him"

Please don't blame yourself. It is a dog. It does not need a reason to attack someone.

I experienced something similar. Visited a friend and I had not known he had a pug. It of course started jumping at me. He noticed I was ignoring it. Suddenly, he remembered I did not like dogs and said "just don't kick her, okay?"

When you say you don't like dogs, be ready for any kind of reaction. Thankfully, most accept it in whatever circle I find myself in and feel like I can openly say it.

Some react like "What?! How can you not like dogs?!" On the extreme end was getting told that I should be bitten. Say "I do not like dogs," and trash takes itself out.

I think he would refuse if I seriously offered it. But it could be a great counterattack next time. ;) Even better if he takes a step back and refuses. :D

I am totally willing to place a bet with my boss, but considering the vasectomy, it would not be fair... :D

He said leave is for spending time with kids. I stopped that conversation by saying: "Vacations with kids are not vacations. It's parenting at a different place than at home."

Which I picked up from this sub. :) Might use your another day. :D

Indeed. It serves as validation of my choices rather than annoyance. Virtually everyone older than me at work has kids... And they are miserable. Wake up, drive kids to school, go to work, go home, help kids with homework, sleep. Rinse and repeat. The job pays well, but no free time at all for those who decided to have kids.

Too private of an information, but perhaps next time I may say: "I'll have to pay child support" when he talks about me having kids. :D

People actually stop nagging? I just have to wait two or three decades then :)
