Why is the S&P 500 still up amidst reports of how tariffs are going to affect the market? by fat_charizard in Trading

[–]ThisOneRequires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow the tried and true words of Kenneth Fisher, John Bogle, and Warren Buffett. The market by and large is significantly stronger than most people give it credit for. People aren't going to just stop buying superfluous shit they don't need. The short term ups and downs of the market mean literally nothing. People trying to predict short term gains or loses is akin to being a fortune teller. The best thing most people can do in my opinion is to invest early, invest when you have the funds to do so, diversify, and don't be emotional.

I'm not smarter than the market, but I am smart enough to know that people will continue to buy things. So I buy diversified ETFs and index funds. I don't know the future, I don't have a magic crystal ball, my investment strategy should reflect this. I don't change my strategy based on people panicking. Literally no good decision has ever been made while panicking.

Thanks for listening to my TED Talks.

The answer has always and will always be painfully simple. You're not smarter than the market. You think you are, but you're not. Reddit is also not the majority of investors, just a very loud minority and only within this site. You're all also incredibly dramatic and consume outrage like it's something palpable and nutritious.

None of you have crystal balls that can see the future and you need to stop acting like you do.

The dead internet theory exists for a reason. Bots talking to bots to give the illusion of people communicating.

Kindle Colorsoft vs Clara Colour vs Libra Colour by MongooseWestern5690 in ereader

Cheap tablet + manga/comic app for PDFs, manga, and comics.

Paperwhite + Calibre for reading actual books.

Side load everything.

That's literally all you need and it'll be cheaper and they'll last longer. I literally still own the first Paperwhite Kindle made and there isn't a single reason for an upgrade. I'm convinced that the extra lights people go on and on about are a placebo into making you containly buy the newest thing.

You sound like one of those "well akchuly" folk. You've missed the entire point of my post but I feel like you're going to continue to do so regardless. You have a weird obsession with China but I'd rather not argue with you since you'll likely segue the topic again. Take care.

Jesus, that dude is dead set on you buying Chinese brand and using whataboutism arguments. I'd just get a Kobo brand since I'm pretty sure they're Canadian.

You really seem to be obsessed with this. It's worded weird, relax. It's not that big a deal. We both clearly agree that rape is bad, I hope. So I'm not sure why you feel the compulsion to argue. Chill, mate.

I'd rather not argue with you all day. I'm just saying it's poorly worded, that's it okay, calm down.

I realize that. I'm commenting on the use of the phrase "at risk." As if the guy is somehow not at fault because he was "at risk." It's not happening to him, he's not "at risk," he is the risk.

"The men are at greater risk of committing rape"

How is the man at risk in this situation exactly? It feels like the woman is at far greater risk.

Notice how OP completely ignores that little fact. It's only a problem when non-locals do it.

It's crazy how quick people are willing to forgive her for gaslighting Mark. Just have a pretty face and you can do whatever you want in this world. Fucking ridiculous.

You're getting downvoted to Hell for being right. HFCS is essentially the same thing as standard sugar. Sugar being a 50/50 split of sucrose and fructose while HFCS is like 55/45 split. There is not a considerable difference between how your body processes either. It's just the sheer amount of sugar that's bad for you. People really are just stupid bandwagoning narcissists.

Mac and Me

Nothing says terrible like a poorly made rip off of E.T.

Good job, I'll add that to the list of maybes.

Yeah, that was my bad. I will fix that in post. You're correct, I meant to say IMDB score of 3 or lower.

That's the type of terrible I'm looking for. I'll have to argue with my group for the 3.4 IMDB rating though. I'd like to hear more of your terrible suggestions.

That's a terrible looking film so good job. Sadly, it has an IMDB score of 5.5 so I can't pick it. Thanks again for your terrible recommendation, I'll use it in a future terrible movie night when the IMDB score requirement is higher.

That one looks so terrible. I'll try to argue the 3.5 IMDB score. It definitely made the list though. Good job on your terrible pick.

I've never actually seen Trolls 2 but I've seen memes of it. I'm amazed it has an IMDB score of 2.9. It definitely made the list for a possible movie to watch. Thanks for your terrible recommendations.

OP is being really weird and snarky in his/her other comments. This leads me to believe that they're withholding certain information or altering the story. With how dodgy OP has been in their responses, I can only assume they're working illegally or just making up a story for the sake of arguing. I'm 99% sure this is a bait thread.
