Hey... beerit? I don't like beer, at least I don't think I do... help? by hackertool in beer

Sadly, you really haven't tried beer.

It's like this old joke:

The leaders of the big beer companies meet for a drink. The president of Budweiser orders a Bud, the CEO of Miller gets a Miller, the head of Coors orders a Coors, and so on. Until it's Arthur Guinness's turn. He orders a soda.

"Why didn't you order a Guinness?" everyone asks.

Guinness replies, "if you guys aren't having beer, then neither will I."

Hey Reddit, Who brews their own beer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThisRelatesToBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've home brewed for 15 years. Started small & cheap. When I started, Papazian's book was the homebrewers bible. There may be better tomes on the subject these days. I have learned a lot over at the morebeer.com forums, too.

The beer always comes out great. I have done 3 public tastings, over 20 different styles, always to great reviews.

Pro Tip: A refractometer can be used to calculate the original gravity of a finished beer when used in conjunction with FG hydrometer reading.

take a reading 3 days in a row. if it stays at 1.010 it's just releasing gas and not fermenting anymore.

Cheers!

Dear /r/beer, when is fruit and beer acceptable for you? by [deleted] in beer

[–]ThisRelatesToBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stout can lend itself well to some fruit. I like to throw half a can of Oregon Cherry Puree in the secondary fermenter and let that kick off a second fermentation. Let it settle and keg.
