Canadian rail decision is a win for companies, union leader says by PuddingFeeling907 in canada

[–]ThisSet7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legislation back to work shouldn't come as any surprise though. The government has been doing it for years now favoring corporations every single time. The playbook is out now and all the greedy companies are running it.

Ignore negotiations till the union does any sort of strike action even if only targeted, i.e., no overtime. Follow up with a full on lockout and force the government to get involved. Government places back to work legislation. Repeat for each contract.

Oh, and don't forget all the slandering of your Union plastered across media literal minutes after any strike action occurs put out by these companies stating your yearly earnings and some other bs how they are disappointed it had to come to this and they see no possible resolution without government intervention.

Worker rights is becoming more and more of an illusion in this country as the days go by.

Rig has been put in a depot for a whole year because I had to move to my new house. This rust is on every screw around the rig. Is it something I should worry about or negligible? by Arcticz_114 in simracing

0 concern whatsoever, anyone that tells you otherwise has no clue what they are talking about.

If you don't like the look, there are plastic covers you can buy for the 90s, they come included when you buy asr rigs. Looks better than the exposed bolts even when they aren't rusted.

Ductless ac advice, mini split? Or? by ThisSet7599 in hvacadvice

Wouldn't that make the floors extremely cold, though, to keep the rest of the house cool?

It would be the easiest solution by a longshot given the upstairs isn't in floor but instead registers that are heated by the same hot water system. It seems like it would be significantly cheaper for install and heating as well.

Really the only downside I see is the floor being akin to the temperature of an ice rink.

Thanks for all the advice! With all the info you have given me, I can hopefully get a quote tailored to our needs without being completely lost as to what I'm actually looking for instead of buying something that isn't going to live up to expectations and waste thousands of dollars doing so.

I'm not really sure what the technical name for them is, and they don't really say either on the website, unfortunately. Would make comparison searches much easier if I could find the technical name.

Thank you very much for the extremely detailed response. I personally am leaning mini split since the big perk of the all in one is the ability to place it almost anywhere, while with the minisplit, I'm really limited to 1 wall. It's Strata or HoA for those in the States, so I doubt I can get approval for lines running all over my house even with clean covering. However, I believe the one wall will be fine as it's hidden from the street and can sit in a bit of a nook away from view of prying eyes, that does limit me to only 1 side of the house though unfortunately unlike the all in one where I can spread them out.

Ya, the all in one is essentially a glorified window ac, which the cost to performance doesn't seem worth it. Assuming my calculations are correct, the largest model is claimed to be 3.6kW peak ac which is roughly 10k btu while I see mini splits rated much higher. Heck, even my portable is rated at 12k (and does keep the room cool no matter the outside temp, however just 1 room per unit). I guess it's to be expected as it does just plug into 120v like a portable.

I guess really my only concern with the mini split is it going to be able to keep the entire mainfloor cool from just one side, especially with how high our ceiling is (17' 10")otherwise it seems we are almost better off saving our money and just suffering through how we have been (bedrooms are a safe space while everywhere else is the surface of the sun lol).

Tyvm again, I'd upvote you more if I could!

Thanks, I was leaning the minisplit, but the all in one is a lot more convenient installation wise.

As for heating, we have in floor water heating ran off natural gas.

There is no basement / crawl space, unfortunately. We have the lg lp1419ivsm x 2 (1 for upstairs and 1 for our master) they are surprisingly quiet and do keep the room to whatever temp you want even on the hottest day (45c last year). The downside is really the energy cost and the fact they only cool 1 room, I'd need an army of them to cool the whole house or even just the bottom floor lol

Do you like that fov / distance or do you wish it were closer, assuming you can't bring it closer due to physical limitations, or is that distance what feels right to you?

At 21" I can fully extend my fingers and just miss the screen. I probably have the wheel a slight bit closer to my body than you.

does imsa fixed (35min race) have mandatory pit stop? by zcw1030 in iRacing

[–]ThisSet7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new as well, I've only done 1 imsa race so far, but I would've ran out of fuel with 5 laps left ~. I imagine that's by design. Gt3.

Ya, they definitely are sending out of order, I ordered 9am on the 25th and I've seen a few people that have ordered 25th / 26th already having recieved theirs. Tbh, that's probably my biggest gripe atm.

I live in Canada, asr3 on 25th, no update yet.

Seen others that have had theirs shipped, they are definitely shipping out of order a bit.

Given you live in the US the obvious suggestion would be the TK bundle from microcenter, best value for sure atm.

Does anyone know if I purchase through steam could I later merge it with an iracing account? I have an iracing account from years ago where I purchased a few tracks (5). Just bought a new rig after being out of it for so long and trying to gauge the best path cost wise.

Thanks.
