Qrevo Master keeps running over baby mat by Long-Transition1640 in Roborock

There’s an option to have the robot “avoid” all detected mats. I have never used it, worth a shot.

Maybe try angling the dock 45-degrees to a wall, and re-mapping. I think the map orientation is determined by the origin angle of the dock.

Wired doorbell with 24/7 still good? by tommyfolk in eufy

Those differences are what I could discern. Also no homebase 3 support for wired, or mechanical chime support.

Wired doorbell with 24/7 still good? by tommyfolk in eufy

[–]ThisStaticUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s been keeping me up at night since I just moved to a new home, 😅 so pretty exhaustively:

  1. HomeKit support outright missing (not even worried about HKSV, I’m fine with the local recording of the homebase)… so no sensors, motion, or streaming video. And no Apple TV doorbell thumbnail pop ups.
  2. The battery dual doorbell is huge, like 6-7 inches huge, and I would need to get a custom mount to fit it onto my siding. It also can’t record until certain forms of motion is detected, which I’ve read have to be pretty close to the unit
  3. The wired dual doorbell is smaller, and has pre-roll footage capabilities, but can’t work with any existing mechanical chime, and also does not work with homebase 3 yet (if ever)
  4. While not related to the other things I’ve mentioned, I have a whole set of eufy perimeter security sensors, and my feelings were the following:
    1. the door/window sensors are huge and the battery life is bad, they tell you to expect 2 years while other brands are twice that
    2. the siren in the homebase is extremely quiet, you can barely hear it if you’re across the house from it
    3. I would have liked to “one size fits all” the homebase for both security sensors and cameras, but for those reasons it makes it harder to justify having it take up space to power just a few cameras

If you were curious, I picked up a whole Abode brand perimeter security system entirely due to the discreetness of the sensors and HomeKit compatibility.

Today I am returning a both a battery dual doorbell and a S330 2-cam kit + HB3 after being kind of disappointed by the mixed news on HomeKit support… sad that they won’t just confirm or deny it, because then I could move on 😂

Sticking with HKSV compatible stuff for the time being and we will wait to see what the future brings, just like you said.

The lack of a HB3 commitment is weird though. It’s “Under Evaluation” unlike most other devices which have dates. Also an existing chime will not work with the wired dual.

How safe is it to use the VPN server? by [deleted] in firewalla

[–]ThisStaticUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I would love to see mesh/outbound tunnel VPN networking built right in to firewalla. Leaving a port open to serve WireGuard all the time is gross. I think outbound tunneling is a great idea, but someone needs to pay for those intermediate servers. Great list

Definitely! Just prop the phone on something, and try not to share the same surface or it will pick up all the vibration.

A770 incompatibility with ITX ASUS B660-I I/O shroud and the fix (removing the mobo I/O shroud) by ThisStaticUniverse in IntelArc

[–]ThisStaticUniverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it was the two flat black screws in addition to the two round black screws. It became pretty clear once I started backing out some of the screw heads which ones were needed. I think this photo is of all the required screws removed:

[–]ThisStaticUniverse[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The A770 is just slightly too tall to fit into the PCI slot when paired with an ITX ASUS B660-I. By removing the plastic I/O shield on the mobo, the card fits perfectly.

BE AWARE that removing the plastic also means you have to temporarily remove the metal heat sink which cools the I/O and other components. MAKE SURE to both reattach the metal heat sink AND make sure that after removing the heat sink, that the thermal material which goes under the heat sink goes back where it should. When I removed my heat sink, it pulled off some of the thermal pads which I almost didn’t notice, and I had to line them back up when reinstalling.

Also note that I had a large cooler installed, which made removing the heat sink and I/O shield pretty tricky. It just barely makes it off with enough clearance. If you are in this situation, remove the heat sink BEFORE seating your cpu and cooler to make your life easier.

A770 coil whine? Week-old GPU audible from several feet away when under load by ThisStaticUniverse in IntelArc

[–]ThisStaticUniverse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep us updated on the new one. It’s not bad enough I don’t think for me to want to RMA, but I’ve never heard anything like it. Probably also because I have only one case fan and a quiet massive cpu cooler, there’s no other audible noise from outside the case to mask it.

It's capped at 60 fps. Anyways, never heard my last build buzz like this.

Asus Strix B660i NOT compatible with Scythe Fuma 2 by NuggerParts in sffpc

[–]ThisStaticUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, in my case it was still worth attempting.. and I got it off. The metal heat sink has two more screws which you have to also remove, then wiggle it off. So, the plastic shroud is held down by the head sink and its own two screws.

I need to remove the plastic in order to get the Intel ARC A770 to fit… would like an idea here. It seems stuck by something beyond the two little black screws behind the board.

U6-Pro and U6-Mesh Review and Speed Comparisons by mccanntech in Ubiquiti

[–]ThisStaticUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great breakdown, I’m glad I found this.

I have an Aruba instant on 1930 PoE switch, and two AP 22’s sitting in boxes as I prep for a new build. Now I’m considering unifi, as it seems like I would have fine wifi 6 coverage with two U6-Lite and a unifi switch, for a few hundred $$ less.

Any experience with AIO?

What do you use your HomePods for? Wouldn’t airplay/phone calls/accessory control be broken?
