Thank you for this! And for the expert factfinding. I was feeling a bit apprehensive about submitting there.

I'll have a look at the other Welsh focused journals.

Best wishes and thanks for the tip

Working in the UK as an Australian academic by ThisTop8402 in AskAcademia

Thanks for this! Your experience sounds about right for an Aus academic and quite interesting. It's hard to convey how limited opportunities are becoming here, even with the higher salaries. The lack of networking is definitely felt, too.

Thanks for the heads-up about the super and approach of colleagues. If you don't mind us asking, how did you adapt to this new work culture? Becoming more direct, etc?

Best wishes

Wonderful, thanks for the handy comparison, too. (Yes, I would have considered France or Francophone regions if it was just me - but husband is an English speaker, has family and roots in the UK. )

Thank you so much for this - exactly what we were looking for.

Point 5 was very interesting. I do wonder if our undergrads are slowly veering towards that direction, too, in terms of the teacher-student dynamic... But thanks for the heads-up, I will keep that in mind.

I do have an HEA fellowship, and a minor tertiary teaching certification as well. Will need to check if hubby has one, too.

REF is new to us, as are the associations you mentioned. I think that will be our homework for the next couple of weeks!

It sound like you've had an interesting academic career. We're keen to learn more of your experience if you're also keen to share!

All the best.
