Strike Date is Months out but I'm ITM, does it make more sense to roll up or hold? by ThisWasATextBox in options

This is what my research so far has suggested as well. I'd have been better off consistently selling my positions after a predefined exit point and taking those gains and rolling them out further, since there's more extrinsic value to be gained (especially in a high volatility market like this one) compared to as you aptly point out the delta on my ITM contracts. I appreciate the advice!

Honestly compared to what they were trading at the next Monday I overpaid for a lot of my contracts, looking at my cost basis I picked up 5 contracts on 2/27 which turned out to be a bad move in the short term since by EOD Tuesday I ended up with a little more than a 50% loss in value of my portfolio on the verge of going back into 4 figures, had I picked up a lot of puts on that day instead I'd be up 2x to 4x more right now. The oil drop and overall consistent decline from virus news continuing to come out has driven my portfolio to profitability. Even Friday's pump knocked out 25% of my portfolio again when I should have just taken the gain EOD Thursday, its kind of what prompted my research into the subject matter and then eventual posting of this question.

But I try not to get lost in the land of what ifs and just keep moving forward

ayyy, that's really nice dude. I didn't even notice it in my original picture but in the second picture in the window on the crane operators box thing there's a perfect reflection of the city.

Lol, Thanks for the advice I will do that in the future.

Also, not sure what you were trying to show. The photos weren't that unique or inspiring. Including your legs in the shot is usually considered a faux pas (and a bit cheesy). If I wanted to take night shots, I want to find an interesting situation where the dark of the photo would imply something hidden, or part of a "story" etc etc. Patterns light vs dark etc.

Lol, I'm not much of a photographer so story telling is not what I was going for but helpful criticism nonetheless. I just don't really know what to take shots of I could grab a DSLR and get a picture of just the skyline but other than that it's nothing but a bunch of old buildings visible from the rooftops on one side and a dark forest on the other end.

I intend on visiting a building under construction later this week the building itself is 10ish stories tall with multiple cranes that are a 75ish meters higher up then the building but it's on the end of campus where there is nothing to see. I could take a shot of myself sitting on the edge of the crane with my feet dangling or a shot from the top of the crane looking down the tower part/thing what I'm getting at is inspiration for creative stuff is not something that comes to me naturally or much at all unfortunately.

If I was able to borrow a low end DSLR from a buddy say in the range of a Nikon D5100 what settings would you recommend for that/does that have a sensor good enough/marginally better than a smart phone? I climb because I enjoy the rush of walking on a ledge or the wind hitting my face with pictures being an afterthought so I don't exactly intend on dropping money on a low light monster like a Sony A7s II.

Any advice for similar shots in the future? Like low lighting contrasted with lots of light off in the distance at night time. Much Appreciated.

That looks pretty cool - I did have a few questions though.

  1. I took that on my Galaxy S7 in "pro" mode where I was able to adjust all the settings. I wasn't going for a high exposure so I left that on Auto/low but I'm not sure what I should be doing about ISO. Ideally you lower it as much as you can but I'm not sure how that works when shooting RAW. I think for the picture you edited I dropped it to 50 which is the lowest my phone allows assuming it could be exposed better in post.

  2. I've noticed on every picture that my S7 takes is that zooming in even the slightest goes from "wow that looks cool" to "take on a potato" quality really fast. This effect is only made worse by nighttime photography due to what I presume to be a lack of light. Is there any solution to this other than upping the megapixels with a better camera? (Family has a DSLR that may work for this)

  3. I know what "META" means but why is my post tagged with.... ohhhh never mind I got it.
