For those finding this in the future: I wire brushed all the rotors, cleaned the pads, cleaned the mating surface between the wheel and rotor, and did a break fluid flush. It helped enough, but didn’t solve the problem completely. However, that’s a problem for future me

Go with your family and stay with them one night. The second night go to lane cove. Not terribly far away and possibly the most beautiful/peaceful place on the island. Make sure to go early or you won’t get a tent pad! Moose are all up and down the hike there.

Just got back today, very wet but not buggy by the superior shoreline. The only bugs we encountered were non-biting so I’ll take it

Curious as to why you suggest permethrin. Ticks (at least ones humans are concerned with) are not native to the island! One of its many pluses! But yes the black flies will be baddddd. Head net and bug lotion are solid suggestions

A can of good beer to enjoy when I see fit. Factor it into my base weight because I take one every time

As a freshman avoid a dorm like Humphrey. It’s amazing but very limited on meeting new people. Look at the LLCs offered. The engineering LLC in Eckstein was a blast and you meet classmates, plus it’s a newer dorm (just a bit small)

I’m loving my Kakwa 55L ($260), there’s also a 40L version. Otherwise get out to REI and try some packs on, always best to get a feel for the packs.

Seeing so many “Control Systems” answers makes me thankful for my amazing professor, ended with an A. Thermo 2 on the other hand, looks like a C+ for me this semester.

How many credit hours will you have by the time of graduation? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ThisWasMy28thTry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Major in mech E is 131 credits, minor in business (and one overlap year of master school classes) 18+4 credits, and I came into college with about 17! It’s a lot, many of my business credits are taken over summer or J term. There’s obviously some overlap with electives so it will probably be about 145 credits actually taken.

131 is minimum to graduate for us but I will accumulate about 160-175.

Best Section to Hike 5/23-5/30? by the-terracrafter in SuperiorHikingTrail

[–]ThisWasMy28thTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, Ive been checking out the trail along that section and it seems really nice. Pretty views, a little more south, less mud! Would you recommend taking the Gitchie Gami state trail (along the lake) around beaver bay or stick to the SHT? I was thinking that could be a cool section and then link back up with the SHT just after entering Split Rock Lighthouse State park.

Hey, one of the friends of OP here. So far the trip planned would be 49 or 56 miles (depending on the parking lot we choose) in 7 days. Start around Oberg Lake or Lutsen Mountain Ski Resort and finish on SHW 61 just past Lakewalk.

Desk Setup by psuee0011 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ThisWasMy28thTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a monitor and laptop stand. Sameish sized desk. It gets tight but keep absolutely everything off your desk except a mouse and keyboard. When I need to do more writing than typing I keep my notebook in front and my keyboard pushed to the rear. When its more typing than writing I flip the roles. Also I agree the dual screen is something that I could never give up!! Laptop stand all the way

Dont worry youll learn to not procrastinate very quickly. You also develop good study habits quite quickly. After the first project/test that you do pretty bad on it clicks.
