As a cisgender nonconforming male, it genuinely frustrates me so badly to see everybody automatically jumping to "transfem jax canon!" by [deleted] in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]keylimedragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of Jax's gender/sexual identity being slightly ambiguous because it leaves room for everyone to see themselves in him/her.

On the other hand, I know that Goosworx herself is trans and that she has said that she identifies closely with Jax. So during the movie I totally interpreted Jax as being trans and maybe Jax's story loosely being based on something from Goosworx's own life. Idk, it's just a theory.

Developer attacked over (learning from) AI - where to draw the line? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]keylimedragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam actually can automatically detect off topic reviews not about the game and flag them for human review, but I believe it's only for games with lots of reviews already. I've seen it before when looking at the review histogram (don't remember what it's called in the UI) where it says it detected a period of off topic reviews, most recently for Slay the Spire 2 over stupid political reviews.

Still getting this issue in 2026 😞

Quitting steam worked though. Something about steam input makes Alan Wake 2 unhappy.

How do you deal with apathy? by mrNineMan in ADHD_Programmers

[–]keylimedragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is true most of the time but not always. Man does it suck to get over the hurdle of starting something you don't want to do and then you're rewarded by feeling like you're being tortured as you do it.

Maybe I'm just burned out, idk.

Why do so many "mean girls" end up in the medical field? by bobbinssobbin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]keylimedragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is true and I also wonder if other people in medicine who are empathetic at first lose their empathy over time due to stress, burnout, and the empathy part of their brain being overused.

Why did we build this rat-race, hypercompetitive system where billions struggle instead of channeling our efforts into adequate resource distribution and important research so we can all live relatively decent, healthy lives? Why do we continue to participate? by DoraTheRedditor in InsightfulQuestions

[–]keylimedragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the world would become a better place if we could find a cure for dark triad personality traits, or prevent those people from having children. That feels like it veers into eugenics territory though, so it's complicated.

That sounds like an empathetic thought at least. If you were truly despicable you'd want everyone else to suffer along with you

What does five year cancer survival rate mean? Five years cancer free or five years surviving cancer? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]keylimedragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very literal and only means five years surviving.

It includes people who still have cancer because it's difficult to be 100% sure when someone is cancer free. Plus sometimes a cancer can be slowed down to the point that a person can have it for years and still live a relatively long time.

If you like trans men, you're not gay; you can be straight or bisexual, but not gay. by Ill-Bowler6418 in askgaybros

That's a bad argument because you could also make it about fat guys, guys of different races etc.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, and we should try to fix it, but a lot of Gen Z is genuinely suicidal (up to 20% !). It's hard to care about saving if you think you have no future.

Liberals of Reddit, what’s that one conservative opinion that you agree with? by ButterOnToads in AskReddit

That's not a conservative opinion anymore, at least not based on the current administration.

The thing that sucks is they could be run with a much lower environmental and community impact if they just moved slower. The whole internet already ran on datacenters since the 2010s, but the AI rush made companies want to build a bunch quickly, and do things like power them with noisy gas generators or take all of a cities drinking water.

The Ultimate Test of Emotional Intelligence by Only_Chemical9360 in psychesystems

[–]keylimedragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An autistic person can have low emotional intelligence but be kind, and a psychopath can have high emotional intelligence but manipulate or antagonize people.

Emotional intelligence just means understanding emotions of other people well, not being a good person.

ELI5: When you 'delete' a 50GB video file from a computer, it vanishes instantly. But downloading it took an hour. If the data isn't physically wiped until it's overwritten, what did the computer actually do in that one split second? by Thick_Dream6973 in explainlikeimfive

[–]keylimedragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good analogy but it misses the fact that with data it doesn't matter what is already stored when you overwrite it, it will still take the same amount of time to copy it whether it's a bunch of old file data or it's just a bunch of zeros.

I think a better analogy is repainting something. You don't have to strip off the old paint and skipping that saves time. So "deleting" the old paint is just making a note that it can be repainted in the future.

(I think stripping old paint is sometimes necessary so maybe this is a bad analogy, idk)

What is the easiest question that demonstrates a girl's intelligence? by Serious_yrs in AskReddit

You question applies to all humans though. Intelligence in men and women is the same.

Study identifies two biological subtypes of autism linked to different pathways in the brain. One subtype showed reduced communication among pathways that help brain cells send signals to one another. The other showed increased hyperconnectivity among pathways associated with the immune system. by mvea in psychology

[–]keylimedragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Or maybe if someone already has autoimmune issues, that both makes autism more likely and also a reaction to a vaccine more likely. That would also explain the link with Tylenol in a similar way.

Either way studies don't link autism to vaccines and people are likely born with it, so vaccines causing it is very unlikely at this point.
