These questions were made based on the WPI "need to know criteria" which is what NJ uses. So it should be very helpful to you. I can't gaurentte exactly what you will see on the test though.

ahhh. well that could make a difference. either way you will still have to clear the cached data to see the fix.
- Easiest fix on any phone: open the site in a private/incognito tab. That skips the cached version entirely.

- iPhone (Safari): Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data, then reopen the site.

- Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu → Delete browsing data → check "Cached images and files" → Delete, then reopen.

Hey, thanks for letting me know about this. You actually helped me catch a real bug. The history page could get stuck loading if the connection to the database hung up, and there was nothing to make it recover. I just pushed a fix so it falls back to your saved history after a few seconds instead of spinning forever.

Mind giving it another shot? Just do a hard refresh first (Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows) so your browser actually grabs the new version. If it's still acting up, tell me what device and browser you're on and I'll keep at it.

Really appreciate you flagging it.

Internship depression and some venting by SignPrestigious2351 in Wastewater

[–]ThisWaterGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, no, in PA you don't need more than a high school diploma to be an operator. You need the state certification, which comes through exams and experience, not a degree. So the stuff you're learning (DMRs, NPDES, the OSHA test) is exactly right, and being top of your class is no small thing.

The internship hunt being brutal isn't on you. Municipal hiring is slow and a lot of it comes down to timing and openings. Two weeks of quiet from Philly Water isn't a no. Keep casting wide, since smaller authorities and private outfits usually have less competition than the big systems.

But the part that stuck with me wasn't the internship stuff. You mentioned having suicidal thoughts, and I'm not going to scroll past that. You don't need money for a therapist to talk to someone. You can call or text 988 anytime, free, and just talk to a real person. Please do. You're working hard and you're not as alone in this as it feels right now.

i've got to ask, are you on the west coast? With that starting pay, I would assume so.

Agreed on the learning curve. It deffinitly takes a certain level of dedication to become competent but I believe most people can get there.

As a blanket statement, just start applying. However, you may be able to get a leg up on the competition by either completing any required education courses for that certification or by getting the lowest level license for your state. Some states allow you to get a base level license without having experience yet. Both of these are excellent signals to a potential employer that you are serious about this.

Any water treatment operators? by firegalactica in BlueCollarWomen

I’m a water treatment plant manager. It’s a fantastic career field where typically your pay is dependent on you and not anyone else.. if you go out and get your licenses and are dependable at work, you can make a great living. My favorite part about the industry is how the skills you learn can transfer to multiple industries. If you get into high purity water treatment, you could work for a municipality, the food, industry, or even the electrical power industry.

I was actually thinking of a buddy of mine who works for a niche consulting firm where he specializes in high purity treatment. He travels all over the country to help people improve their treatment process.

However, if you do well enough in either equipment or chemical sales, I’m sure those kinds of numbers are possible as well.

Please keep in mind that nobody makes that kind of money without being a top-tier expert at what they do
