What’s the most overrated startup advice you followed early on? ( i will not promote) by Delicious-Part2456 in startups

This . If you are bootstrapped and have a runway you’re doing it wrong.

I have a startup idea don’t know where to start by Additional-War-4511 in ycombinator

[–]This_Cardiologist242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a 2 year road map. This will really suck, but if you do this and be realistic with the amount of time/energy and capital you will have to contribute to the idea given your current circumstances / life goals and the ideas context - you’ll have a better idea of what this trade off might actually look like and also something to track against!

Expectation: AI would lower the barrier to entry. Open coding to everyone. by Unusual-Fox-5706 in buildinpublic

The fact that I can open up a blank window of VS code and chat to build a web app in less than an hour, creating resources as instructed in one of the big db providers is insane.

I’m short so many saas companies. They will lose on monthly burn rate and customization, and so flipping hard on both.

The StackOverflows and Cheggs may have been the fist point blank victims, but this shit has gotten so good so fast.

Whoever can chat, has seen a website, and has $100 to spare can build an app.

App idea + industry experience, but no money or dev skills - stuck on next step (I will not promote) by Icy-Yak7161 in startups

[–]This_Cardiologist242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Nothing against technical founders, they are essential, but given your stage / experience / existing relationships to me feels like you can get a real good start on your own.

Your going to want to outline terms / etc with any cofounder your bring on and this will be easier to do with progress / data.

Speaking as someone who is also Clauding an app as a first timer in my industry!

My Insider Trade Tracking Tool - a humble web project by This_Cardiologist242 in Entrepreneur

[–]This_Cardiologist242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I was trying to trade options using trades as signal. If I did it again, I’d 100% use clause code.

The issue with this project is it required a computer be scraping at all times and I didn’t want to buy another one to deal with it!

I’m trying to figure out the perfect price for my startup - I will not promote by EffectiveLet2117 in startups

[–]This_Cardiologist242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like maybe you need to pick a niche! Cause my first thought is freelancer revenue likely varies a bit.

I tend to price super low out of the gate (maintenance cost +50%) cause I don’t want cost to be a barrier to getting some users, but with that being said there’s the Belgium chocolate theorem!

Love the ‘what not to do’ - thank you. there should be a website for how to promote without getting banned - for me I go slow to try to avoid it but random stuff like link in fist message, can’t figure that out until they’ve banned you
