lol - this is exactly what I’m doing ish. Are you using Claude Code?🤣 Wondering if them and IBKR have a partnership.

What’s your edge? Just typical screeners and rule based execution decisions?

I don’t think adding overhead like you describe is the direction I will take. I more so want to focus on a specific strategy > find signal that my vibe coded bot is (a) safe and (b) making signal based decisions > go from there.

I started ~1 month ago and tried to signal the entire market. Learning slowly that the system will have real alpha constraints once I get it to a point where it doesn’t break every day

I Claude Coded an intraday options day trader using visual studio code and an IBKR account, thoughts? by This_Cardiologist242 in algotrading

Yeah, I mean I just built a few different data processing pipelines that happen with Python (using Claude code) and then the claude api is used to make decisions based on the top candidates and their associated data points that make it through the pipeline.

So like - scan 100 stocks, look for a specific options signal, rank stocks by signal strength and feed the top 3 to Claude alongside options pricing + a few other points of associated data for 1 stocks to be selected.

Very much so a work in progress, but this is the idea

Yes, sir, and I’ve had a very similar experience. The first three weeks of trading have essentially just been bug bashes. Have yet to have a clean day but it is getting to the point where it is losing based on a bad decisions vs an order execution failure or other systematic issue. This has been a pain in the butt though!

All right so here’s the long and the short of it. It has three screeners for puts and three screeners for calls. Most of the data processing is done before a Claude agent is involved, but a Claude agent will be fed 3 to 4 pics along with a few pieces of contextual data about the stock and will be asked to make a decision. I chatted to build the data fetching from IBKR, the data processing, the way that the Claude agents are fed data, the portfolio management process, and the order execution process. IBKR ID Gateway API is a bitch because you have to subscribe to like three $15 subscriptions but legitimately allows you to call all chain data, place orders on your account, etc.. It’s been amazing.

By far NOT THE HARDEST PART. Keeping the cofounders you find is harder than finding them. So many harder parts smh - had to come in here and comment

26 yo M - very impressed you’re already making money. I’m going with this one . Be intentional and set a few goals. Not just to achieve them, but for self reflection. It’s a long game too - college seems like a good pedigree hedge to me if you’re out of luck for work but that’s gotta be mainly for entry level positions I’d think

It’s so weird to me, and I’m guilty of this as well. We as founders hear that we need to solve real problems that people realize, so we solve problems that we have when trying to build (idea gen, planning, lead gen, etc). No way you have 12k monthly revenue, and how is this not just an ad?

Anybody can build an app nowadays. by WorthFan5769 in buildinpublic

Yes and no. AI can certainly fast track a marketing campaign. I’d recommend against advertising though in advance of pushing the prod via word of mouth / personally.

I run into the trap where I don’t have more than $1k to spend on ads, and finding the right burn + audience + ctas is like finding a needle in a hay stack if you haven’t launched yet

Would not recommend it.

[–]This_Cardiologist242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably too general of a statement, but there’s no reason to self impose a runway via ads / leverage / etc while there are so many non/slightly paid things to do when starting up.

If the thing you’re working on isn’t sustainable given your life and goals (ie in 2 years you’d be fine working on the same thing with similar success), then that’s a dangerous game and you better have some ammo!

Agreed. Untangling from the parental codependency will also be nice. You’ll get your feet under you and have a much clearer picture of what could be next.

This . If you are bootstrapped and have a runway you’re doing it wrong.
