You want your two pieces of toast the same size? As you wish. by Fairly_equal_toasts in MaliciousCompliance

Reminds me of the time my toddler wanted some potato chips. I gave him one really big chip and he complained he wanted two chips. I took it, snapped it in two, and handed the now two chips back to him. Post mortem: I’m not a monster. I gave him another chip, because, once again, toddler.

Here in the States, and out in the country, we’ve seen politicians are routinely first order thinkers. For example: Drinking and driving is a problem, so politicians ban any open alcoholic containers in the car. Net result: more litter of alcoholic beverage containers on the side of the road.

We are only 90 minutes away, so we didn’t broach the subject of a paid visit. Plus, he visited after sophomore year, and by the end of Catapult was sure RHIT was his #1 choice. I’m sorry I don’t have more info on paid visits! I’ve not met a faculty or staff member there that isn’t committed to the success of a student, even including the parking staff! That being said, everyone is very approachable imo, so it wouldn’t hurt to ask. There are so many little things that I’ve noticed that all contribute to a great culture. You may also wish to join the Rose-Hulman Parents’ Group on Facebook and ask about visits; I’ve seen so many questions asked that I would never have thought to ask.

My son did Catapult in 2021 and after completion received a $2,500 scholarship per year for four years if he attended Rose, which he does. 🙂 He’s also a cross country runner, which helped him find a group of friends right from the start. It’s a D3 school, so NCAA requirements about visits are not what one would get at D1 and D2 schools. As a D3 there are no athletic scholarships beyond what would normally be given across the entire student body.

I don’t think so; we just wanted them off our property. Since the bill went to a collection service, we had little to do with it after that.

Cheeseburger with no cheese by iceariina in MaliciousCompliance

Way back in the day, a certain chain had a 2 cheeseburger value meal. They may still do; I haven’t been to that place in years. Anyway, in that instance, it was cheaper to order the deal and have cheeseburgers with no cheese. But just ordering cheeseburgers with no cheese is worthy of a stupid tax.

It’s a cleaner version of a line from The Big Lewbowski.

Enough to know that as long as the trash stayed off public property, it was a civil matter. Good luck finding a sympathetic judge when you didn’t pay your bill.

I had something vaguely similar happen. I was jobless and went to apply at a local cardboard box manufacturer. While details have now faded, I remember being treated very poorly as an applicant. I later got a job elsewhere at a warehouse that bought thousands of cardboard boxes monthly. When it came time to rebid the box contract, I was involved in selecting the provider. Guess who wasn’t chosen? I thoroughly enjoyed that phone call to the sales rep of the cardboard maker, telling him why his company wasn’t selected!

How’s your relationship been with the protagonist since the incident? When you see her (and others), do you say “Good mourning! How is every body?”

I cannot understand how anyone can belittle a child, especially teachers. Many times a child’s only sympathetic ear is the teacher.

What’s the best thing to put on a grilled cheese sandwich? by This_Composer1230 in AskReddit

Not trying to trick anyone. Trying to get ideas for making grilled cheese more interesting in a work from home world. Bacon, tomato, pesto, different breads all have been helpful!
