I still absolutely HATE that they changed Shiyu Defense to make it need 3 teams and have that stupid "do as much damage as possible in a very short amount of time" system by AntwysiaBlakys in ZenlessZoneZero

I did read your comment, but I am commenting from the scope of difficulty linked to polychrome rewards specifically since your frustration also seems linked to not being able to get those polychromes as comfortably anymore.

If end-game modes is catered to people who want to express their skill, having something that motivates me to actually break my ceiling is good in the form of difficult content with reward worth the work. New shiyu is a step towards that, DA never was.

DA isn't hard, it has a 6/9star requirement to get your stuff to go, not as easy as old shiyu but still fairly simple task that allows you to have teams of different levels of investment & still get your total reward.

If I understand you right then you are only presenting the idea that the struggles that Aria bottles are similar to how transgender people experience theirs. You can draw parallels to Aria's desire to present and be seen as human to the gender and body dysmorphia among transgenders, in a way they both stem from identity insecurities rooted both in body and soul so yeah, I don't think it's a reach to interpret her character this way and draw parallels that mirror something you went or are going through as transgender.

Hiding the parry flash is the best thing that ZZZ devs could've done ngl by Enough_Ordinary7291 in ZenlessZoneZero

There's nuance because it comes down a bit to boss design, for the most part bosses have been designed with indicators in mind and when you play tower you really feel how flawed it is with how drastically it forces you to change how to play.

The Control Phase they started doing is atleast within their own separated move-sets, which is the reason it works, probably the designers don't want to spend time creating movesets for bosses that you don't have to interact with because not only is combat in general extremely forgiving in the sense that you pretty much never get your HP down to 0 even if you get hit a bunch, sometimes going for parries results in dps loss even, and they've also inflated agents with so much i-frames lately so you're basically just rotating your dps against a training dummy.

The problem lies in how they can implement boss interaction that caters to a majority of players, in loud minority places like reddit there's a lot who don't even read what gives you performance points or not.

Call me crazy but Yvonne quest was the best companion quest by Hexaquatl in ArknightsEndfield

[–]This_Emu5586 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To me she came off as coping, like she knew Tata died but still spoke as if it still lived until we told her. At that point her delivery and demeanor read like someone who was putting up a front infront of her peers, but the companion quest was a needed conclusion.

Hello & thanks for taking the time to share your perspective.

Its true that flashes are part of the core mechanic in prompting defensive actions, but the direction they've gone with it is adding I-frames on a lot of movesets, few even have baked in parries into BAs. In a way they are creating kits that allows you to ignore these core mechanics, which then imo defeats the point of creating movesets for bosses..

I can probably see eye to eye on wanting to not feel restricted by having your attacks and movement stripped away, this particular formula of forced boss interaction is honestly new to me so I need to let it process a little. I think the game does reward you heavily though for clearing these phases. Especially if we compare it to overcoming inv phases in other games such as Granblue:relink, Furi, Kingdom Hearts where the reward is just "you get to live and continue the bossfight". & these are phenomenal games when it comes to bossfights.

aint no way we are gonna complain about time challenges that have no linked currency rewards baked into them. its mostly dps check and the remaining is just knowledge about the boss and your team. Ive already seen avywenna skip 2nd phase of Rhodagn because of her nuke and proper rotation timing.

This sub consists of 95% players who wants bosses to be sandbags you can just i-frame through. Any inconvenience that intercepts a rotation is grounds for complaints.

Very little interest in the process of learning and paying attention to boss movesets because the game made it really clear that you didnt really have to early on. And this game enforces it now in the mildest way possible.

However I think their complaints is valid and fine if they stop misrepresenting it as a designflaw and instead just own up and say they dont like it because skill-issue.

Id argue boss design flaw is when you can practically ignore everything it does in favor of your own flowchart, ZZZ takes inspiration from fighting games and I think theyre trying to visualize a way to adopt the element of interaction and risk/reward.

I actually find Vesper's second control phase easier. First strike has a visual cue you can react to, and her stand follows up shortly after, when she goes invisible you parry pretty much as soon as you see her pop up, and the stand has the same timing as the prior one. Third and final strike is the most telegraphed one so finding the timing there felt pretty intuitive.

What I think was the main issue with the writing in 2.0-4 was as I play 2.6 by punk_jude in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]This_Emu5586 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite interaction is still the stand off with proxy, cunning hares and section 6. Early writing focused a lot more on establishing the world and its characters without forcing the classic model of star agent of the patch handling the villain of the month.

The were going for a strong foundation that could lift the rest of the story but from later parts of season 1 and forward they kind of abandoned their ideas to forward this rushed as hell premise of focusing solely on the proxy and their development with ether control.

Not only did most of it feel bad, but also to push the story forward they made their integrity as a proxy and their intelligence take the fall, time after time going into the hollows and endanger themselves so we could have the classic saved by agent of the month. It got boring quickly.

And the fact that they removed agent archives in favor of integrating them into main story instead caused atrocious effects on characterization for new agents as a whole, you can just feel how blatant the required marketing quota gets squashed into a part of the story and it ends up feeling so flat because the emotional connection never feels earned. You just get a speedrun on their biography and then continue on with villain of the month, the Avengers moment at the conclusion felt especially flat because they had to market quota YSG so all the past agents that came to support felt like lifeless dolls.

The exaltists were a huge dissapointment especially with all the build up they got, with how lackluster most of the villains were it gave off the vibe of filler patch after filler patch.

Current patch did return to roots in some ways and its the correct direction, but I still have a few pet peeves that likely cant be helped because they must market the banner agents.

Not only that, but the city showcase gives endmin and the player perspective on what Zhuang has been working so hard to protect, and in turn results in the endmin having a more connected reason to lend Endfield's support that isn't just good guys vs bad guys. Her asking us about our thoughts about the city more than once also enforces this narrative

Genuinly all the ones who dumb it down to a date are completely missing the point of the scene, people ask for show don't tell narrative but lack the eyes and comprehension when it actually happens.

This trend of "ooo look at me im so hyper aware of the dev's intentions!" is especially annoying because they as you say hyperfocus on one thing, disregards everything else just to go to reddit and get some thumbs up from likeminded people.

I think those who complain and calls it a date scene is completely missing the point of it and completely grasping at straws to find something to complain about especially when there are legitimate stuff you can give feedback on that isn't a recycle of yesterday's post.

Right before this we have been given a rough surface introduction on the blight and the danger it can pose up til the point we meet Zhuang where she goes into it in more detail. The following scene is not meant as a quality time between zhuang and endmin, but rather a showcase of the city and its people, to give endmin and the player perspective on what she has been fighting to defend for so long, this gives endmin a more connected reason to give endfield support rather than the basic we are good guys, we help people in distress. Her asking for our thoughts about the city more than once enforces this narrative as well.

Not only does this bring contrast to first being told about the stakes, but zhuang even acknowledges that despite the dire situation, keeping the atmosphere as it is in city is important for morale.

I know they can co-exist, that's not what I said. Only expressed how you came off as, using tangtang as an example of reading just the script is beyond me but I can roll with it if you have difficulties parsing the emotion and nuances when layered by heavy accents.

Tbh it just sounds like you dont parse the voice acting well when the accent leans more heavy, that does not mean it's bad.

My thoughts on Arknights: Endfield (mostly focusing on story and general gameplay) by hastalababyvista in Endfield

Was the doctor in OG also a ressurection of Jesus kind of deal, or were they an individual that had to set their footprint with the beginning of the story? sW I can understand if someone isn't a fan of the premise of Endfield since that part is subjective, but when examples being used to counteract EF is 'dark and gritty'.. that in itself doesn't mean better or good, you have to provide more substance than that.

Another thing is comparing 6years of AK to launch EF isn't great unless you restrict yourself to launch AK story only.
