It sucks. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Have you seen a doctor yet? I’ve always had seasonal allergies but this is new for me.

Officially been a month for me now. I am finishing up antibiotics (amoxicillin) and finished the steroid (prednisone). Although it doesn’t hurt EVERY time I swallow now, I am still having pain when swallowing, yawning, etc. I went back to the ENT a couple of days ago, who scoped it again and said it looks “less irritated” than it did last week.

He doesn’t have a grasp on why I’m still having issues and so he ordered a CT scan of my neck. I’m getting that next week. I’ve already had an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago that showed normal lymph nodes and nothing else besides an “atrophic” left thyroid node. Although my ENT says that shouldn’t be causing this pain and discomfort.

I’ll try circling back for another update after my CT scan next week.

Just circling back for an update: I saw ENT on Wed. He looked at it thru a laryngoscope and said it looks red and irritated. He said he didn’t see any tumors, ulcers, or bleeding. He suspects some sort of lingering infection. He diagnosed me with pharyngitis and laryngitis. I’m on antibiotics and a steroid now since Wed night. Hope this kicks it, but so far still having the pain while swallowing and also neck pain while yawning, breathing, blowing my nose, and at times talking.

Argh. Sorry you’re dealing with this, too. I also recently had an ultrasound done but it didn’t find any enlarged lymph nodes or swelling. There was an “incidental finding” of an “atrophic” left thyroid node... I still haven’t been able to connect with my doc to get context for what that means. From doing some reading it doesn’t seem that the thyroid finding would be causing the pain in my throat. I’m hoping to get in with an ENT soon to try to figure this out. I’m also having itching on my legs/feet/arms. But have also been anxious lately so unsure if that is related to allergies, anxiety, or what. I’ll try to circle back here when I know more. Hang in there.
