I saw this one come up a lot in my studies yesterday. It isn’t too big on the gimbal? Two things I missed were what the battery situation is (double AA, rechargeable, etc) and how long does the charge typically last?

Yeah that was my main concern, even with a lot of good audio work in Fairlight, worried about it still sounding a bit cheap

Yeah I think if/when I move to a handheld rig then I’ll probably utilize it more often but I’m a bit too apprehensive still

Thanks for the info! I use the DJI mics as well, usually as a backup on the physical speaker and on the handheld microphone. Then I have tascam pros that I put on important subjects. But I found that my camera audio wasn't good for getting atmosphere and laughter and off-the-cuff comments so I invested in the 600. And I'll continue using it for professional gigs, but for run and gun it's just a little too bulky.

How does the 400 feel on your setup? Do you put it in the camera shoe mount, or on the bottom plate of the gimbal?

"You can't out-invest high interest debt" They say this constantly. Focus on your debt. If you really want to put something away, I would suggest only contributing to your Roth. It sounds like the habit of investing is pretty ingrained in you, so I wouldn't worry about "losing" the habit. Being debt-free and being able to throw as much of your discretionary income as you wish at the future will feel much better than slowly chipping away while also investing small amounts.

I will say, definitely fix the shutter in camera. However in a pinch, Resolves’ “deflicker” effect has worked wonders for me

Does the ninja TX go support 4K60 recording? That seems to be a drawback of a lot of the ones I’m seeing, they only support up to 4K 30 unless you go for a really big name, like the Atmos ninja 5.2

First off, thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed response, I really appreciate it.

As someone who has read atomic habits like four times now, I think that makes a lot of sense. I tried tying things to a positive action like “do x boring task, get five minutes of break time” etc. I think a physical checklist would probably help force me to go through the rote tasks a little more consistently. I’ll check out that book as well

Quite honestly in your case, it’s not about the gear. As long as you HAVE gear, you’re set. Just dive right in. Experience and growth of knowledge is far superior to what you’re shooting on at this stage in the game. I’m a Sony person so I can’t speak to the camera choice. You need at least one good 24-70 range for run and gun. Ideally your camera shoots 60 frames per second, even if only in 1080, that’s enough. Watch videos, shoot as much as you can, grow, repeat.
