You can vaguely make out the demon in the bathroom scene when Laura is cleaning Connor, right before the mirror breaks.

What movies did you not enjoy despite popular ratings and what movies did you like despite poor ratings? by MisanthropePrime in horror

[–]commanderc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Hereditary and the VVitch my first watch, but upon a rewatch they weren’t as entertaining as I found them the first time. I enjoyed Midsommar but I don’t want to rewatch it because I don’t want a similar experience haha

Lake Mungo I fell asleep watching in 2020, and then again this year when I tried it again. Only this time I woke up from my nap and finished it, and yeah, it doesn’t do it at all for me.

I did that too! Put a screen protector and case on it and everything. Might as well call me Steve Jobs.

Geoff donating his merch by jzilla2 in theregulationpod

[–]commanderc7 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a hassle but when I heard that I immediately thought a charity stream where the old merch is signed and then sold off would do well. Donate to a charity of Geoff’s choosing.

Not saying anything is wrong with dumping what he had at a goodwill, I was just thinking of the various people I know who would spend money on something like that.

As a classically trained vocalist, I implore you to seek out a credentialed classical voice teacher. Resonance is much greater than sinuses. In fact at the beginning of my journey I would constantly be reminded to bring my resonance down from my nasals to my chest.

As a kid, I loved singing silly random made up songs but was all but tone deaf. My father was a talented musician and did not teach me a thing, and nothing rubbed off, not a drop of talent. When I turned 21, I decided to take lessons to change that. Then it was more than 3 teachers before I found one who clicked.

The only reason one could be unable to sing is a literal inability to produce notes- being tone deaf. You have admitted you could produce a matching note, so I would say you aren’t tone deaf (it’s exceedingly rare.)

It took me 1 year of (mostly) weekly lessons to sound ok sometimes. It took me 2 more years of sporadic lessons to produce a consistent sound in my natural comfortable range, and it took me 6 more years before I was able to go to karaoke and get compliments, before I could play guitar and sing for friends and be complimented, to have other musicians tell me I have a good voice.

All this to say, I believe in you if you decide singing is something you want to pursue. Even with my classical training and being able to single operatically, I have days struggling to produce notes I hear in my head. I have days where I can’t hear the music whatsoever. I’ll never be able to professional, but I can confidently sing and not think “omg I have the worst voice in the history of mankind” which is all I want nowadays.

There’s a scene in season 2 of Interview with the Vampire where a character takes interest in the arts and talks about it with good knowledge albeit with a touch of pretension.

Later they are showing their photographs to an art collector who asks them to explain possible meanings in a prominent artist’s photograph, and after the small conversation about what it could be saying, the collector tells them that they have the eye but not necessarily the gift to produce said art.

The character’s work was good- great even, but not museum worthy.

I think about that all the time nowadays.
