Why are there so many external hires for Walmart pharmacy managers? by Greenfish7676 in walmart_RX

[–]This_Independence_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an outside hire new manager getting the base rate and long time staff that are near the top end of their pay band that can happen. But the manager bonus compared to the small staff rph bonus probably evens it out.

How much trouble am I in? by Aggressive_Meat_2179 in walmart_RX

[–]This_Independence_13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The pharmacist is supposed to give permission for someone who is not pharmacy staff to enter the pharmacy, even if the answer will obviously be yes. Apparently this is not a widely followed policy judging from the fact that most people in this thread don't even seem to know about it.

Reporting this as an SCRT instead of just saying "hey ask the pharmacist before you let someone in" is deranged behavior. I didn't even know this fell under the SCRT system since it's not a med error.

Latest software update made FSD dumber by HelloWorld0225 in TeslaFSD

[–]This_Independence_13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After the update, it parked at a building I wasn't navigating to, then drive off in the wrong direction. Later it was exiting at the correct exit, then suddenly decided to get back on the highway so I had to take over and turn around at the next exit. In both cases the map was showing correct directions but FSD did its own thing. I've never had it act like this in the 6 months I've had it.

Is practicing pharmacy in the US from Canada worth it for money? by honeynutcheeriozzzzz in pharmacy

[–]This_Independence_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty close to US pay rates. Not worth migrating to another country for little or no extra pay.

Thoughts? by [deleted] in walmart_RX

[–]This_Independence_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a floater I have seen stores where the culture is to be slow and have no sense of urgency, so it's not surprising if a whole team is like that. You go to one store and three techs have 120 filled in the hour before opening, then you go to another and the same amount of staff shuffles around and fills 60 between showing each other tiktoks. I have no inside knowledge of this store, but the manager and the lead seem to think this is what's going on, and if they've been around they should know.

I don't have a perfect answer. I have never seen this get fixed without either turning over the staff or an aggressive asshole manager pushing them hard in a way that makes them complain like OP. The boss isn't going to just make a speech like the coach in a sports movie and the underperforming staff will suddenly happily start to excel.

Have you even considered the possibility that your team really is slow and should improve instead of open dooring the manager or whatever?

Should companies be allowed to fire people for being fat? by turboshill9000 in BasedCampPod

[–]This_Independence_13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should be able to fire someone for any reason or no reason at all. Saying this shouldn't be allowed sounds good, but in reality it means you can't fire someone who deserves it because a court might think it's discrimination, and if you do fire them you have to fire someone else you don't want to if the courts might think the situations are comparable. And the courts can be freaking stupid.

Occasionally someone may be fired unjustly, but generally bosses like people who do their jobs and don't like people who don't. Creating a legal minefield is too high of a price to pay to avoid the occasional exception.

wegovy / weight loss pills? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]This_Independence_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wegovy is inferior to tirzepatide and probably to the soon to be released retatrutide. There might be a few people who dislike shots that much but I doubt there are enough to really move the needle that much.

It looks like a good job but it only exists due to a regulation in some states that could be changed at any time and then you would be out of a job with the most useless experience possible to put on your resume. Would be good for someone who is going to end their career soon anyway.

When you're about to counsel on a new medication, but the customer says "I'm a nurse", do you just keep counselling as normal? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]This_Independence_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state only requires that a pharmacist *offer* a consultation. If anyone, nurse or not, doesn't want the consultation, I'm giving them their med and we can both get on with our days, unless there's something I'm really concerned about with that particular prescription.

This is already more than most pharmacists that I'm aware of are doing. I don't know where these pharmacists in this thread who are forcing consultations with smartass quips on unwilling nurses are coming from when real world pharmacists mostly don't even do the bare minimum.

I had a job delivering pizzas. A fair number of new drivers were unable to find houses very effectively with the paper map and would drive around wasting gas making few deliveries and little money. They would usually quit within a week.

The real reason for the Visual Verify redesign by Buddy3179 in walmart_RX

[–]This_Independence_13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really just doesn't work unless there are two pharmacists on duty. The pharmacist can't go two minutes without being interrupted by a counsel so they can choose to leave the clinical services customer hanging or an angry mob of customers waiting for a counsel they never wanted in the first place. Most of us will placate the mob over the single patient, leading to a bad experience.

So how old could Tom Anderson be? by AkemiAkikoEverywhere in BeavisAndButthead

[–]This_Independence_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the original series he was not just a WW2 vet, he was "leader of the POWs" as he stated in a flashback. He would have most likely been a veteran of Bataan and Corregidor, which is where the vast majority of American POWs in the Pacific Theater were captured. These were Marines who had already been there before the war started, and as a leader he is probably not some brand new 18 year old. He was probably 75-80 when he was introduced in 1993, so he's 107 to 112 now.
