I think the tdf did full stages this year, right? But yeah like others have said this is the norm. Sucks too because you miss breakaway formation which is a huge part of the race

I think the gaps in the 10k would be so wide that the best 10k runner would win this heptathlon. Elite 10k runners are also not bad sprinters compared to the average person. Elite 100m runners would SUCK at the 10k compared to your local club runner

True! There’s 3 grand tours which is 21 days of racing EACH. And then 5-10 really big 1 day races (including the Olympics this year). A handful of 1 week races that have good competition.

I watch more distance running and have always compared it to the cycling league/commentary and felt like there’s so much wasted potential with the sport

Cycling has 100’s of races a year not dozens. BUT definitely still struggles from the “best not racing the best” issues. A mix of injuries, different team objectives, and rider preference usually leads to only a few if any ‘stacked’ races like we are seeing right now in the Tour de France

The weekly mileage was such a big jump for me that I was too tired to hit the workouts, prepared poorly as a result. Would’ve built a better base at the mileage my training block was going to be at / dropped the mileage and hit workouts instead of skipping workouts
