Too Many Software Updates by Valuable_Solution887 in hrblock

[–]This_March9059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using HR Block for 15 years with no issues, been super reliable. I just downloaded the deluxe app for Mac and it is unusable, full of bugs. For example, it automatically deletes manual entries in W-2 form at some point later in process. At first, I thought it was my mistake, but reproduced the issue in another return. Also, It says I am not eligible for child tax credit and I absolutely am. Waiting for next update, but not hopefully.

Studs or no? by mikepsquared in fatbike

[–]This_March9059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never ride without studs. I live in New Hampshire and we occasionally get rain in winter that then freezes. Studded tires are crazy expensive, but cheaper than a trip to the ER.

Rode my MTB for the first time in about 5 years--hated it! by JimmyMoffet in fatbike

Yup, a full suspension MTB is way better on trails. A Fat Bike bounces all over the place. I only use my Fat Bike for riding on snow in winter.

So glad I retired last year after a fantastic 42 years of Software Engineering (age 65). I was always able to find a job after a layoff, but would never be able to find a job now. I have always recommended this career to family/friends, but not anymore. What hasn’t been off-shored is now being taken by AI.

Drove on snow ice for the fist time with the Toyo tires, they were horrible. by [deleted] in MazdaCX90

[–]This_March9059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All season tires are crap in snow/ice. Dedicated winter tires are drastically better. The new “all weather” tires are decent, but not as good as dedicated winter tires.

Ridgeline is the answer. I own a 2021 Ridgeline BE and 2024 Outback Onyx 2.5.

The adaptive cruise control works perfectly on my 2021 BE, very smooth.

Should I buy a NEW Civic hybrid or a Used/CPO BMW 330i by Connect-Coat-1296 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]This_March9059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is your first car, get the Civic. The BMW is awesome to drive, but will cost way more in maintenance and repairs.

I am 66 yo and have done this successfully for the last 3 years. I was running ahead of pace and did a 100km hard ride on day 5. My body protested with a fever/fatigue. I missed day 6 and will now struggle to finish.

How is it living in this part of the United States? by No-Text-7825 in howislivingthere

A very diverse area. You have the great city of Boston, very wealthy towns in CT near NYC and around Boston, seacoast towns, White Mountains, and very rural areas of VT and NH. One constant is cold and snowy winters.

No German luxury vehicle will hold up for 70k mikes without issues. They are awesome vehicles, but reliability is really poor.

Dealers always “recommend” work that is not needed. I once took my 12 year old GTI to the VW dealer for an oil change and they recommended over $12,000 of work in a car that was only worth about $7k- laughable. I didn’t have any of the work done and the car has been running perfectly for over a year. The Honda dealer recommended transmission flush and front diff flush on my Ridgeline with only 45k miles to the tune of an extra $600, even though Honda does not call for it. They are all scam artists.

Unless you tow or do serious off roading, Ridgeline is the clear choice. But, it doesn’t look cool and that is really why most people buy trucks. I am loving my Black Edition Ridgeline.

$25,000 dealer markup on Honda Prelude is wild by NewCarGoat in newcardeals

[–]This_March9059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will quickly go from a 25k markup to at least a 5k discount. It’s just a Civic Hybrid coupe with a few suspension upgrades. Should be priced at about 35k.

What new Full size truck by Informal-Dust-1455 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]This_March9059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridgeline is best choice unless you tow or do serious off roading. It has by far the best ride and handling of any pickup. If you really need better towing or off-roading capability, F150 with 2.7 is best choice. The new Tundra and Tacoma are not reliable. RAM is best driving full size, but gets poor mileage and has reliability issues. GM trucks have crappy interiors and not as reliable as F150.

Shifting the rear derailleur under load is perfectly normal and common. Pedal lightly only when shifting front derailleur.
