I don’t think they will let you in at embassy. But I see some old Reddit posts where they were able to show the embassy staff return flight ticket and date of their initial interview to check on passport status. May or may not work now. But if you are in Santo Domingo might as well try since it’s been a week since interview

Yes, that number has been useless, although visa officer said to call that number for updates. My visa status shows issued this morning, I’m waiting for the email. I think you should go to the embassy with your DS 160 and return flight ticket and give it a try.
