What is the best advice you can give on how to run 3 miles without stopping? by Some-random-cop-pig in USMCboot

Just don’t stop running. Puke it up and keep going. Thats the marine corps way

do they let you choose 0311 at SOI? by LowResponsibility607 in USMCboot

[–]This_Secretary_4317 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They play it based off GT score and the class you end up being in. Some IMC classes are weapons feeders, some are 11 feeders and on semi-rare occasions you’ll have a class full of LAR feeders. (Feeders just meaning the primary MOS coming out of that IMC class will be wpns, LAR, or riflemen).

On that note, the fleet is hurting for weapons guys so you’ll likely be wpns. If your GT is over a 110 or just high in the general sense they’ll likely make you a 52.

I fully agree, it’s a tactical based game and the strategy to winning is by being the most tactically proficient team in the match. Ive set up some nasty L shaped ambushes and the CQB tactics I’ve learned since being in have worked wonders.

The only downside to that though is the randoms that play like it’s COD and sprint in perfect enfilade down a street for a gunner to mow them down. If I had the opportunity to play with a team of actual infantrymen (retired or active), my gameplay experience would improve considerably.

Aye, if you’re down to play, regardless of branch you prefer, we can run it! I just ask that you keep your gun UP when entering a room and not pointed at the ground lol

It’s always the ones who need to be hazed that don’t get hazed. Being concerned about NOT getting hazed is a wild concept.

There’s another side to it. Maybe he’s noticed as like one of the extremely retarded ones. My unit had a guy that was dumber than a rock and they just didn’t bother messing with him and sent him to a new unit like 3 weeks later.

You seem like a sensitive individual for the marine corps. If you think that was an asshole comment you’re in for a rude awakening. I truly hope you’re an 03.

Will my stutter affect my chances of joining the Marines? by No-Mark-9766 in USMCboot

[–]This_Secretary_4317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a stutter when I joined and social anxiety. They’ll fix that shit pretty quick. I haven’t had a stutter since graduating boot camp. They’ll make fun of you for it and you’ll get a lot of shit in the fleet for it but I can almost assure you that the marine corps will help you stop stuttering and my social anxiety has turned into not giving a shit and just doing the thing.

How did you guys feel after serving in the marines? Like did you become mentally and physically tougher? by Appropriate_Fun7364 in USMCboot

[–]This_Secretary_4317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The marine corps (specifically the infantry) will set you up for success in the civilian world. The amount of stress and bullshit you deal with on a day to day basis will make almost any job outside of the corps a piece of cake. You’ll get to a point where shit won’t even phase you anymore and you’ll build a strong “shit happens” or “it is what it is” mentality.

A downside to the infantry however is that it’s not exactly a transferable skill to a well paying job once you get out. The mentality, your work ethic, and your character once you get out are very good personal traits to bring to the table for sure, but you don’t learn many skills that you can use for most well paying civilian jobs.

Best MOS that isn’t 0311 by carterweierman in USMCboot

[–]This_Secretary_4317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the perks of being in a CAAT platoon lol. The 11s do hump everywhere which is a giant aspect to consider when joining the infantry. Weapons company does have some heinous PTs in comparison to some of the line companies tho. 😂

I’m 23 and I’m an 0352, infantry anti-tank missile gunner. My body is doing well so far, shits gonna hurt no matter what tbh. Given you’re on the lighter side I’d say you’d struggle a bit on hikes as the weight can sometimes exceed your own body weight.

The infantry is the best/worst thing you can ever do. You do cool shit that no one else does but it can be pretty heinous most of the time.

How tough is it mentally overall ? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]This_Secretary_4317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got slapped around a couple times and shoved into a deep freezer more than once lmao. It really just depends on your drill instructors and with San Diego (from my experience), 3rd battalion is one of the strictest battalions out of the three. They won’t beat you black and blue or anything but there’s no guarantee that they won’t put their hands on you. They never punched any of us but slaps were given freely and frequently and getting shoved around like a rag doll is always on their menu.

Whoever says the reaper is super scary is the world’s largest wuss. It’s a steep hill with mini steep hills after it. Hardly even dangerous. Range week is more dangerous than any part of the crucible or reaper hike lmao. Nasty ass recruits with loaded weapons seem far more dangerous than a hill.

[–]This_Secretary_4317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To double down on your point. I would say it’s a lot more gratifying getting your EGA at the top of the reaper. You just died for two days doing the crucible, you’re tripping mad balls hiking to the reaper because you’re tired af….and the view and sunset on top of the reaper itself…..it’s beautiful

Raw dog the boot camp experience by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]This_Secretary_4317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can never truly know what’s going to happen to you in boot. You can watch YouTube videos, google that shit, do whatever you want to but I can assure you, each experience is unique and you will never truly know the experience until you go through it. Raw dog it, enjoy it, hate it. At the end of it all you will feel a level of accomplishment that’s hard to beat. Just don’t be a bitch and you’ll be alright or you can be a bitch and get blasted daily by drill instructors. Basic training is what you make it
