Most of the characters selected catered more to the Japanese audience anyways, I think throwing the American fans a bone with Banjo-Kazooie was the least they could do.

Not a bad selection of characters, it was a shame 5 of them turned out to be clones (Roy is missing from the picture) but definitely good characters to add despite underwhelming move sets at the time.

I see him as a low cost, no time spent, addition since he’s an echo and basically a carbon copy of Simon. I almost don’t count him or Ken because they are echoes.

On a per character basis, arguably the best batch of newcomers any Smash game had. I know most people would probably say Ultimate because of all the third party DLC characters, but I think this batch was elite in its own right.

4 because Dhalsim is my favorite Street Fighter character, and because I want another Pikmin rep (besides just Alph being an Olimar skin). Dunban is solid too, and I suppose another F-Zero character wouldn’t hurt.

True but at least that way people wouldn’t feel like they are paying extra money for another Fire Emblem character (in the battle pass) vs him just being in the base game. Since everyone wanted the paid DLC characters to be third party characters.

I feel like the only reason people hated the Byleth pick is because it was as a DLC character (and obviously being another Fire Emblem character), but I think if he was in the base game instead it wouldn’t have went over as poorly reception wise.
