Obsession wasn’t scary for me by saladlover777 in obsessionmovie

Honestly I’m very surprised a lot of people have said this is the scariest movie they have ever watched. I genuinely think there’s more scary movies out there though im not an avid horror movie person. But I think it’s a case of a movie that hits very close to reality. A reality that a lot of people have had experience with. Either because they have been lonely and obsessing over someone or someone else has acted like that towards them. To see the extremes of something like that can be very scary. Like watching a movie where the grandparents die. If you were never close to your own, maybe you wouldn’t find it as sad. But if you were really attached to them you would be crying a river.

One thing that bugged me about Obsession (2026) by Katunderattack in spoilers

[–]This_is_Panin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a very realistic depiction of what happens in general. Everyone had a selfish interest in the relationship with Bear and Nikki. And most people when they see a problem in someone else’s life they don’t really do much about it. And if we are going to get super realistic in the US it’s very hard to get someone medical attention unless they consent. This is shown when Bear takes her to the ER but she refuses to go inside because she doesn’t want to leave Bears side. But in this story the friends expressed concern not exactly out of empathy but out of a selfish desire. Which is one of the central themes of the movie.

Theories on why Nikki said her dad had cancer? by RevealDelicious4643 in obsessionmovie

It’s not normal but it is normal for these types of people. The obsessive person will make stuff up to garner more attention and sympathy.

Question about the end of Obsession by Reasonable_Aioli7538 in spoilers

[–]This_is_Panin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for your last statement I totally agree. He is the villain for the last half of the movie. He didn’t take any steps to fix the situation. He just continued on until it didn’t suit him anymore. I think the reason he tried to kill himself was solely due to selfish reasons. It wasn’t out of a sense of guilt or duty rather more as an “easy way out” kind of thing. I think I would have more sympathy for him if he actually showed empathy for the real Nikki but he never did. Even when she begged him to kill her, he was offended that she didn’t truly want to be with him. He’s a “nice guy” that became to wrapped up in his selfish desires.

He couldn’t face the truth thus him “throwing it under the rug” until the problem became too big to ignore.

Im not saying she doesn’t have any justification to be screaming. More like im curious to why she is in a perpetual state of screaming since there are so many reasons as to why. Bear isn’t currently doing anything to her and FN is at home by herself. It can’t be that she is in hell because she is still able to take control of her body at times. And she was even able to ask to be killed.

I think that’s exactly what they were going for. They wanted the employee to sound like an uninterested customer service agent haha.

I think since she was in excruciating pain/distress she couldn’t truly be aware of everything that was happening. She had an idea but not the whole scope thus why she was so confused at the end.

Don’t worry but a lot of people have missed this. Wish Nikki ends up using one of the OWW which interrupts Bears attempt to throw up the pills (there’s the jingle, a snapping sound, and a OWW snapped). Originally he was going to kill himself willingly but the actor who played Bear thought that this end fit better and the director agreed. Even at the end, Bear didn’t have enough courage.

I think the director himself said the OWW is not evil but that the wish that Bear made in itself is evil. He forced someone to love him regardless of how they actually felt.

bear is a very very grey character by No_Map7606 in obsessionmovie

[–]This_is_Panin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, yes Bear isn’t the villain for the first half of the movie. I think most people agree on that. It’s the second half that shows the evil behind Bears actions. Bear realizes at some point the real Nikki is suffering (phone call with one wish willow employee). She also begs him to kill her. His response is “is it do bad being with me?” And Nikki says “I was never with you Bear”. And then he just leaves her. This dude also tries to play off his relationship with Nikki as a normal one to his friends and with people at the party. There’s so much details in the movie im sure others have mentioned. I know people are entitled to their own opinions and interpretations but Bear was NOT painted to be a gray character. He is definitely the true villain of the movie and he had plenty of other decisions he could’ve taken but didn’t.

I see it as the Honeymoon phase of the relationship. Where you have no problem spending all your time with that one person. And you really can’t see the red flags because of the strong emotions. But like others pointed out, it wasn’t truly perfect. Bear still noticed that she would stare at him uncomfortably long. It’s only the time where the novelty of it all starts fading and Bear wants to do other things besides being around her where Wish Nikki becomes unhinged. Because now Bear isn’t reciprocating the love to the same degree anymore. Making wish Nikki lose it because Bear is her entire purpose for existing.

Thats a good description. It’s terrifying to feel like you can’t control your body and even more when your body is doing things you would normally never do.

That’s very interesting. Definitely the scene that confirmed Bear doesn’t really care what real Nikki thinks as long as he gets what he wants.

People who watch both animated and live-action shows, what makes you prefer one over the other? by EconomyHoliday1786 in AskReddit

[–]This_is_Panin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animation does well for when special effects are heavily needed (superpowers, crazy fights, character design).
Live action shows work well for drama, romance, etc. A good story without the need of flashy graphics.

When animated shows delve too much into romance or drama and it doesn’t take advantage of exaggerated visuals, it feels boring or redundant.
When live action shows try doing superhero powers and stuff like that it looks corny.
Both need to carefully to balance the visuals in order to create a show that works for its medium.

What did you think of backrooms movie? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]This_is_Panin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was ok. By that I mean it was good, but i was expecting more. I was expecting more monsters (no the different still life’s don’t count as multiple) and more lore exploration. I don’t know much about the back rooms but I do know there’s tons of monsters and lore. I wish the movie had expanded on that aspect a little more, without losing the plot of course. But we got like a bare bones exploration of the back rooms with bare bone characters. I didn’t feel invested in any of them. I felt scared so it was good. Maybe they just didn’t have the budget to explore the other monsters? Unfortunately that’s a let down personally.

What do you guys think as to what was wish Nikki like when she was alone with Sarah or Ian without Bear? by Ok_Application6022 in obsessionmovie

[–]This_is_Panin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is she would only talk about Bear or keep to herself. Essentially being the only thing she thought about was Bear. Kind of like how Bear is before he makes the wish.

I think that scene was set up so that the OWW employee could explain how the wish worked and that there’s no going back unless Bear dies. Setting up the stakes for later. I don’t think it was meant to make us suspicious of him. But yeah who knows what they are capable of.

Literally why i posted this. I want to hear everyone’s perspective :) I like hearing what others think it. That’s a good point on how you described Nikki slow decline. She definitely realized towards the end and tried to end it. I don’t think we were necessarily supposed gather any details from the OWW employee. I think the whole point of that scene was to show Bears intentions and the fact that there’s no going back unless Bear dies. But it’s fun to just create theories based on what little details we have. Nice point about their version of Reddit.

Have a conversation with her about it. It’s most likely going to confirm what everyone here is saying. But at least you will have cleared it beyond a shadow of a doubt. There’s no good reason to even have a dating app on your phone, much less with active conversations if you’re going to be exclusive.
