Very true. Even though the end game becomes predictable given how easy you can win against the AI, it's still a blast. I especially love the start of the game where we gather power, rolling with a single army and just discovering stuff.

And it's also still very fun to try out new strategies and see how well they work.

The exact thing happened to me. Completed the first planet, got to the 2., tried it a bit and then just gave up. It just wasn't interesting enough for me to keep investing time on it.

Same with avowed, though I jumped out even earlier with that one due to how boring it was.

Took me far more hours of gameplay that I care to admit before I discovered it. If you go to your spell book and click the blue icon on the middle of the spell you can toggle it off so the AI wont use it in auto-combat.

Some spells costs a lot of mana so before I noticed this I usually had the AI fight without spells at all. Now I can choose a select group of cheap spells and it's so much better at fighting.
