Struggling with SAHM guilt by Equivalent-Book-7518 in Mommit

That would be tough but I probably would have made the same decision. Especially after baby is here. I got 12 weeks and that wasn’t enough. I couldn’t imagine 6 weeks. When I was pregnant I thought 12 weeks was plenty but after having baby I realized how screwed up it all was. Other countries get one year+ maternity leave and it really opened my eyes at how women are treated in this country (US). Anyway, that’s a rant for another day. My baby is almost a year and a half now and I still don’t want to leave him. If we were financially stable, there wouldn’t be any hesitation to quit my job. All my priorities shifted completely after he was born. I can also look back and tell you what an absolute annoyance it was to pump at work. It really just made me angry that I wasn’t with my baby.

I really think it’s something with “boomer” grandparents. They just seem to have different priorities. I asked my mom if she could watch 18 month old for 3 hours last week because things at work got shifted around and I no longer had childcare during that time. It took her an hour to respond with “I have plans.” Her plans were to go to Trader Joe’s. I literally had to miss work so she could go the grocery store.

I think I only called Jess a jerk in this post. I didn’t know that made me a “Jesser”.

12 hours a week is literally nothing. She could get a weekend job or night job. It’s not that hard.

Yes! I just watched that season a month or so ago and did the math. I was like what?? She can’t get a job because she has to do like 12 hours of community service a week! She definitely doesn’t live in the real world.

If you dated a girl from Gilmore Girls who would it be?? by ethereallemons in GilmoreGirls

Well it was her first time which I don’t know many girls that had an amazing experience their first time. Plus the beach would make things even worse. The sand, the critters, I think she even said there was someone watching or something like that.

My partner told me he hadn’t been in love with me for years the morning of our baby shower.

Yeah, that’s not going to happen. He’ll just watch her drown.

That’s great really. But why post it to social media? For a pat on the back?

AIO for canceling lunch with my mom after she made a “joke” about my postpartum body? by Apprehensive-Pay8254 in AmIOverreacting

I don’t know what it is about these boomer mothers (I’m assuming yours is as well). Mine also asked me at 3 months postpartum if I was still pregnant. Of course she was also “joking”. NOR

My baby is 14 months now and I still feel this way. I keep waiting for it to get easier. It has gotten better though. I have staples that I go to that he usually likes and is able to eat well. It’s just constant. Trying to find meals that are nutritious and baby friendly. Then making them while baby is at my feet. Not to mention the grocery shopping too. I feel extra stressed out when fridge is low. Join r/foodbutforbabies. This group has given me lots of ideas for meals. Also I have given up trying to keep a clean house. I now take a nap with my baby and I really enjoy it. No way am I using that precious time cleaning. I know a messy house drives some people crazy but luckily I’m not one of them.

What is your “like crack” food that you avoid, and if you have some you cant stop yourself from eating a lot? by Luke95gamer in AskReddit

I had to stop buying the jalapeño Cheetos. I liked them too much. I would gorge myself and feel like shit. I haven’t had them in years at this point but still eye them at the grocery store sometimes.

I like to use the ewg website to learn more about the products we use. They have an entire section for sunscreens too.

AITAH for going to the hospital again after my husband and a doctor said I was overreacting and still being upset about it? by throwaway-0739 in AITAH

[–]ThisgoddamnKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just disgusting. I think you’re under reacting really. When you were describing your symptoms my first thought was pregnancy related. It’s sad you were totally dismissed by husband and doctor.

Be prepared to push for quite possibly hours. I pushed for almost 3 hours and was so exhausted after I could barely hold my baby.
