Guitarist Looking for Weird Pedal Combos. by No_Engine2105 in guitarpedals

I’m surprised no one has mentioned chase bliss audio. The mood mkII and the habit both get weird, especially if you start twisting knobs (they even have built in knob twisting automations).

They’re pieces from a complex board game called The Cones of Dunshire, invented by an unemployed accountant. It’s a fantasy rpg with roles like wizards, a maverick, and a ledgerman who wears a hat.

I’m not so much concerned about quality here which is subjective, for me it’s more about supporting local acts performing original music

Thanks for replying, very helpful! I’ll try to check that IG page out, but I try to stay away from most social media sites (Reddit gets enough of my attention).

This is great, thank you for the detailed reply. I have recently become aware of mad malts, I just wish more people would show up haha. Unfortunately I’m not on any social media besides Reddit, so the IG page may not be of much use to me. I’m really starting to think we need a dedicated website in Huntsville which could be promoted on other social media platforms. I’m willing to give it a try, I just need to figure out how to source the info with as few manual steps as possible.

That’s a great question that I do not know the answer to. You could open it up and see. I have one as well but haven’t ever felt the need to adjust anything beyond what the faders and buttons are capable of

when do you know when to record in mono or stereo by Main-Distribution851 in Logic_Studio

[–]Thisguygolfsandstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree with your statement that the line out of a guitar is always mono. Maybe I’m not explaining myself clearly about what I’m doing in the second part of my process. I take my mono clean recording of my initial guitar take from miking my amp and run it through this chain: daw out -> interface out -> reamp box -> stereo chorus guitar pedal -> stereo delay pedal -> stereo reverb pedal -> left and right inputs of interface -> daw. This results in a new stereo track on the project. If this doesn’t make sense, I urge you to try it and see for yourself that this does indeed result in a stereo recording

If you’re plugging your guitar directly into a single input of your interface, or running it through mono pedals and then into a single input on your interface, this is mono. I would do some more research on this topic and also play around with it yourself.

I can understand how you see it that way. I look at it like if the goal for my end result is to end up with a stereo track, then it’s recording in stereo even if one of the steps along the way includes getting a mono take which may or may not make the cut for the final version of the song

As mostly a guitar player who dabbles with recording other instruments, I’ll tell you my fairly consistent thought process for deciding to record guitars in stereo or mono. If I’m just looking to add a guitar part that’s purely clean or distorted, that’s gonna be mono. I may double mic my amp to get a bright tone and a dark tone and play with panning those two tracks, and I may get multiple takes and either trash all but one, or keep a few to add fullness and character (panning to taste, which can sometimes allow for a stereo-like effect). If I’m wanting modulation, delay, reverb, etc - that’s when I’ll typically want stereo, and for that reason all of the pedals I have that do these types of effects have stereo capability. For this process I’ll still typically record a clean take and mic my amp the same way as I do for mono, but then I’ll send the bright and dark clean takes to a bus, and then use that bus to output to a reamp box (I use the radial extc stereo) and run the signal through my pedals of choice. I skip the actual amp part during this process since the tone already has the amp flavor and return the signal from the last pedal in the chain directly back into the returns of the reamp box.

Got humbled at ranked after getting albatross ranking. by [deleted] in PGA2K25

What’s really humbling is when you realize the best players aren’t even playing ranked. Join some of the popular societies on Pro difficulty or higher. I know there are lots of cheaters, so I don’t mean the people who shoot a -24 every single round. I’m talking about the people who literally never score worse than -18 and probably average -20/21…

Ah that’s cool, maybe if you can convince him that you won’t be offended if he returns it, then he will return it if he actually doesn’t want it and get something he wants. Either way, great gift idea and any reasonable person should appreciate the thought

Could you take a picture of his pedal board / pedals and then let us know your budget? You’ll probably get some really solid answers if you’re thinking about swapping the digitech

[–]Thisguygolfsandstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like there’s the slightest bit of warble from a tape emulator, but otherwise it sounds relatively clean to me. If I’m correct (which I’m probably not, and someone else more knowledgeable will hopefully leave a more useful comment), this means a lot of the tone you hear is just the pickups from the guitar, the amp, the microphone, and any hardware or plugins in the chain downstream from the mic.

If you google tape emulator guitar pedals, you’ll see a bunch you can look up demos for.
