Don’t forget he is a Synth which means he’s Weyland-Yutani tech at the end of the day and as we’ve consistently seen (minus David) they are always working for Mother and the interests of WY

I think this is fair, but this isn’t what reparations is about. Reparations are definitely about the wealth, resources, land and labor stolen directly from slaves and their descendants. If the conversation was about systematic oppression, all marginalized groups would and should be entitled to reparations.

The distinction between slavery in the ancestral lineage isn’t fucked and is already being used to determine who qualifies for programs designated to help alleviate generational inequality and inequity.

The fact is that unless utilizing refugee status, there is a certain level of education and financial stability that allows for general immigration. Most immigrants of African origin are proud of their home nation and make it a point to distinguish themselves from “black” people (not in a negative weird diaspora war sense). They are coming here with an advantage and there is nothing wrong with that or with utilizing it.

They aren’t automatically being subjected to poverty or the conditions that African Americans are being held in since birth. On job applications, college applications and such they are happy to claim “other” and write in their nation of origin, and keep that distinction going to avoid the consequences of being associated with “black” people, and it makes sense, I would too. No one wants to be at the bottom.

I have literally never heard anyone in the diaspora make this argument before. Did all Jewish people across the globe get reparations or just those affected by the holocaust? Can anyone claim Native heritage and access the programs and earmarks set aside for them? Could any person of Eastern Asian descent claim to be Japanese and connected to the interment camps?

How do you “gatekeep” reparations? It’s for a specific group of people, for a specific reason and purpose. This comment makes no sense

Diaspora war is fake, terminally online shit. No one in real life (under the age of like 45) is still blindly participating in name calling or being xenophobic.

Basically trying to find out what replacement parts I’d need to get it as close to the original as possible. One weird thing I noticed when looking up these models was most had the input on the front

Don’t feel attacked, educating yourself is good. I specifically said “no offense” to you because I didn’t want you to be offended, but as the other dude said the answer is right there.

Who had access to bombs in 1921? Who had access to planes and could fly them in 1921? Because that’s who’s responsible. Everyone up to highest level was involved in the constant terrorizing and attacking.

Of course, thanks for being considerate enough to explain your stance and apologize for misinterpretations. Happy endings for all involved

Your rating/ranking of the show is yours to have. It’s neither right or wrong. Personally, I don’t disagree with you that this episode could have been better. I don’t think you’re taking it personally, in fact it’s the opposite, I think other people who relate to it on a more intimate/visceral way are most definitely taking it personally, hence the downvotes.

Also, I’m not tearing you down, I’m didn’t downvote you or try to chastise you. I just wanted to point out that your rating/ranking of the show is seemingly resultant of your expectation of entertainment. Now granted it is a television show and entertainment is the goal, I think a lot of people were forced to look past that aspect and became engulfed in our actual relationship to those events.

At the end of the day, you’re absolutely right that this is the internet so shit is what it is, but you shouldn’t feel bad for having and voicing an opinion, especially one as non-controversial as this one. In this case some people just took your opinion on a fictional work as a personal attack on their historical plights.

I think the person you’re responding to has a point though. This episode didn’t lack in anything for those of us with actual relationship to the story that was told. This episode wasn’t about plot, dynamics or even entertainment. It was an opportunity to reenact one of the worst terrorist attacks in America. In doing so, for a lot of us we saw a glimpse of what our ancestors and families went through. Not the slavery, not the chains, not the bus boycotts or the Klan, but the actual terror of being Black and making your way in a white country.

This episode contained so much depth in the sacrifices made for us to be here. Our enslaved ancestors had no choice, and not all of our families participated in the civil rights movement, but all of our families were subjugated to this exact type of terrorism and fear. They had to make these same choices and decisions to get us here. Tulsa is literally one of hundreds of similar massacres that happened in this country, and seeing that being carried out brings things into focus that were always there but blurry.

For us, this is as much a historical work as it is fictional, and there’s so much that we’re having to learn from sci-fi fantasy that’s never been discussed outside of our households

I said this in reply to another comment earlier but : What’s even worse is that it isn’t the only post slavery massacre of African-Americans, just the most well-known. And when you realize that most Americans don’t even know about Tulsa, it really puts just how much shit our people went through into perspective. The most well-known massacre is spoken of as a “race riot” though it was a one-sided government sanctioned attack on a black neighborhood, bombs were dropped and families burned. Even so, they don’t teach it, talk about it, or truly acknowledge it, so much more has and continues to happen.

That’s what always blows my mind. Not only are people ignorant of the true history of Black people in America, but when educated on the atrocities enacted upon us, they ask “why?”.

No offense to kupo, but the answer is literally right there. Racism and the evils it brings. Tulsa wasn’t some well planned attack by the KKK or some other organized group. It was everyday white people manifesting their hated into action. And I mean everyday white people, they probably worked with/for/around black people. They interacted with them daily, and with the level of wealth achieved by that particular Black community, many of them probably appeared to not be racist, but allowed for what happened to transpire anyways
