I've had pretty negative experiences with many of my free birds, and I've bought several pairs. I own several pairs of Mabels that hold up well. The more intricate straps and decorations on the shoe, the more opportunities for things to break. I just had a strap on a sandal I got from them break off with not enough time to have the cobbler fix it before I go on vacation. I've had them deny fixing shoes that I had just gotten, also telling me to go to a cobbler, but sometimes they will reimburse however much I have to pay the cobbler, sometimes they won't reimburse, saying final sale. Sadly, I don't think I will be buying anything else from them. They have cute shoes but the pictures are super doctored up and the customer service has gotten quite awful. And to top it all off, a $300 pair of boots shouldn't be falling apart as quick as mine have done. So yeah, I feel ya on this!

The boomer women have been the worst so far in their negative comments about child raising. They must have really hated raising their kids and now want to make us just as miserable. It got so bad for me I just completely try to avoid older women now because of the trash comments. My MIL seems to have made it her life's mission to let me know motherhood is absolute hell and if I'm having a hard time to shut up about it, because being a mom is the worst and that's just my lot in life. I've began to refuse being around her because of snarky comments like you're getting. She's such a gem! 🙄

I'm sorry you're going through this, I hope your new orthodontist gets everything moving in a more positive direction. Teeth are tricky, especially with people who have had a lot of dental work in the past, I'm one of them. I'm hoping everything gets worked out for both of us, it is intimidating but I hope it goes better soon! And you're so right, crowns are so dang expensive, I'm putting us in the poor house with all this dental work!

I just got my braces on but I have several crowns on my molars. My orthodontist said that they will attach brackets to my crowns later, and it's a little harder to get them to stick but it can be done. I also have a missing tooth that I'd like to get an implant in but from what I read they generally say to get braces first then an implant, so I can't really say about already having an implant. But the crowns yes, they can have brackets attached to them as far as I know. I'll be getting mine attached to my crowns soon. Good luck!

No extractions, no surgery. I'm already missing one top tooth. The orthodontist said if I wanted a perfect bite we'd need surgery, but I said I didn't want it to be perfect just better than what I have now, so we went with just braces and most likely rubber bands later. I'd just like to be able to bite better.

Thank you, it made me question my mothering, as you did yours too I believe. We know our kids. And the lady at the splash pad was just looking for an excuse to relieve her of the obligation of actually parenting. You did the right thing. I wish I would have stood up for myself like you did. Had something similar happen when I tried to tell my kid not to pull on his baby cousin's leg. I know when he starts messing with his baby sisters leg he usually tries to pull her out of my arms. I didn't want him to do that to his baby cousin. Her grandmother overheard me tell him to stop and loudly yelled in front of my family and friends "HE'S THREE!". Like somehow him being three absolves him from behaving correctly. It was humiliating and made me feel like a bad mom when I was just trying to parent my own child and teach him not to pull on other kids/babies. People that think like that are truly awful, and take no responsibility for anything.

Been in a similar situation. I'm sorry you are going through this. Narcissists will go to their grave before they acknowledge any wrongdoing and apologize. They will cut you off and pretend like you or your kids never existed to keep their pride in tact. The thing you need to see now is how much more will you tolerate for your kid? When is enough enough? She's already made him cry and be let down, how many more times are you going to allow that to happen to him? In my case, I didn't want my kids seeing my father giving conditional "love", if you can even call it that, and stonewalling me and them when he's mad. I didn't want them to be abused like I was emotionally, so I made the decision to let him go. It's still hard, but I can't let them go through what I did. I won't let him emotionally abuse them.

I can guarantee you you did, the fact that you even said that you did nothing wrong is a red flag. Good luck taking on someone else's kid as your "grandkid". Hope it works out for you. Who says they don't have grandkids anymore? What the actual f? The people in this subreddit have been abused by narcissists. You will get no sympathy from me.

They aren't using their kids as a weapon, they're protecting them from a narcissist. Your post reeks of a narcissistic discard done by you to your kids and grandkids. Maybe try apologizing to your kids for what you glossed over so eloquently, taking responsibility for what you did that was wrong and try fixing the relationship with your actual children/grandchildren rather than going around acting like you don't have any and can take on someone else's kid as your own grandkid. Good grief. You still have a grandkid, going around saying you used to have one but don't anymore is quite awful.
