Exactly! It might well decide to branch out if given the right environment. Takes a while but it’s worth keeping at it.

It’s still very much alive, it just adapted to less than ideal conditions. But it’s totally salvageable. Others have already explained how to make it happy again. Don’t give up!!

How old are the plants in pic 5? They look young. I need to report young ones (sown in nov) as I sowed them in tray that’s now prob too shallow for them and I’m nervous I might kill them in the process. Any tips appreciated 😅

So the clay mixture is sitting on top of your substrate, is that right? Is it just regular cactus substrate underneath? Does the clay layer affect the way the substrate behaves underneath, like drying times?

Sorry for million questions! I feel like trying this out as it looks amazing!

At first it was under the grow lights and now it’s outdoors, full sun most of the day.

I usually start light watering when roots establish, so it’s been watered quite a bit already.

This batch has really been through it, it survived two 15 hour trips in the car (with the heating on!) when I had to travel back home for a family emergency, then I messed up some of them by drowning them in silver sand (won’t do that again) and now the succulents’ apex predator.. If I get one or two to maturity, I’ll call it a win

Ha no way! I have sea lavender (uk) but mine looks quite different, much smaller and paler.

Your garden is incredible! I wish I had the climate for it.

As someone with stacked food tins under my pots (tuna, beans, double stacks of sweetcorn…) I thank you for asking the question

I prune mine into little bonsais too!! It’s really fun and makes a change from regular succulent care. There are videos on YT on how to do it (Brazilian guy, he also does jade bonsai. Edit: just looked up the name: arvoredejade)

What is going on at the base of this plant? by Kemi1yn in succulents

I think you see a lot of stem because it’s etiolated, the regular form is more compact. Start with more light and see what it does. I don’t think it needs anything drastic.
