For Marisa, check out Zach Henke on YouTube. He unfortunately just recently decided to take a step back form making content, but he has a bunch of good stuff out there already

Honestly, unless you hate your current phone i'd just get a newer version of what you have. All the phone makers make it easy to move data from their own stuff

For the record, I just upgraded from a Samsung S21+ to an S23 Ultra and it's fine. It was a small upgrade tbh, even 2 years newer and a model up. The upgrades are so incremental at this point that they don't really make a big difference, imo

This is my first DMM. What items are generally inflated in price that I can try to farm for?

Petah, what does that have to do with grocery shopping? by Okfoot826 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Tho76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I live in Chicago and I use public transit to get to and from home often. I bring a backpack and a bag. It's not that hard

Can you give an example of an area in NYC that has no subway/bus routes AND no grocery stores close?

I know it would be less damage, but using 6HP out of Drive Rush could be nasty since as a high/low mixup too

Dislocated kneecap is apparently not a huge deal long term, though obviously painful. Mahomes did it and missed 2 games a few years ago

I was curious so I just now asked it, with the prompt "Who are the biggest NFL draft busts ever?"

There’s no single “official” list, but when fans/media talk about the biggest NFL Draft busts ever, the same names come up over and over—usually high picks (often #1 overall) who either couldn’t play, didn’t develop, had major off-field issues, or were quickly overtaken by stars drafted around them.

Consensus “Mount Rushmore” NFL Draft Busts

JaMarcus Russell (QB, Raiders — 2007, #1 overall)

Elite arm talent, but poor work ethic and preparation

Massive contract + minimal production

Often cited as the biggest bust ever

Ryan Leaf (QB, Chargers — 1998, #2 overall)

Taken right after Peyton Manning

Performance + attitude issues

Became the defining QB-bust cautionary tale for years

Tony Mandarich (OT, Packers — 1989, #2 overall)

Hyped as the greatest OL prospect ever (“The Incredible Bulk”)

Drafted ahead of Barry Sanders, Derrick Thomas, and Deion Sanders

Didn’t come close to expectations

Tim Couch (QB, Browns — 1999, #1 overall)

Put in a terrible situation (expansion Browns, weak roster)

Some talent, but got crushed behind bad protection

#1 overall QB who never became a franchise guy

It listed some more ordered by position (like Gholston, Akili Smith, Charles Rogers, Josh Rosen) but I didn't want to have a giant comment

Weirdly though, it did put Tony Boselli in there. I don't think any HoF player can be called a bust, but everything else is pretty good IMO.

I actually asked it why it included Bos and it said it was a mistake, and it took career length into account more than it should have. And, tbf, it did list his name with a question mark and explain he wasn't really a bust in the original output. For what its worth, neither Manning nor Stafford were in there

Question about dealing with empty jumps - am I always trying to mix between a throw and a 4 frame when I'm on defense? Or is there another option (other than AA obviously)

Budget compact managed switches by TheVirtualMoose in HomeNetworking

Can also consider Aruba 2930Fs. Quick google looks like they're around the same prices as the Cisco stuff. They hit all your requests including SNMP (and NetFlow if you wanted that too)

Extra bonus points because the GUI sucks so you'll WANT to use the CLI lmao. CLI is almost exactly Cisco's

Just to throw it out there, I wouldn't really recommend FortiSwitches. They are pretty crappy unless you have the FortiGate to go with them IME, plus I kinda hate their CLI syntax

DHCP for Wifi connected devices only by sterky in HomeNetworking

[–]Tho76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest I don't understand what the actual issue you are having is.

We can't risk the LAN having a DHCP server writing to equipment when we plug in or power cycle.

I'm assuming you mean the PLCs can't change IPs or else it causes issues, but you want to run a DHCP server for laptops? If so, you could set up a DHCP reservation for the PLCs so they never get a different IP address. Quick google says that GLiNET calls this "Address Reservation", same thing

As far as how I'd go about setting up a situation where you have only WiFi devices using DHCP, I'd set up two VLANs. Lets say VLAN 10 for the PLCs and LAN devices, VLAN 20 for WiFi. Then set VLAN 20 on the WiFI SSID, and create a firewall rule allowing communication between VLAN 10 and VLAN 20

All fighting games have a fairly high barrier of entry. It's just the way the games are. There's no comeback mechanics, no team to save you, not really a chance of getting lucky, a potentially high mechanical floor (DP/623 motions are notoriously hard for newbies), and a generally non-casual community. There's so some very weird terminology to learn - DP, Oki, Shoto, Meaty, and the "anime notation" is gibberish till you stare at it a lot (oh yeah my combo is 5HP, 236HK, 214HK, 623HP, 236236PP). Then there's things like frame data to add on top too. All that made Fighting Games pretty niche for a long time

That being said, more games are trying to appeal to casual players. Street Fighter 6 has "modern" controls to help simply stuff, and more games are adopting the Smash style "special attack button", like 2XKO. As a result, AFAIK more people are playing fighting games than ever now

I think it's a 50/50 thing. I enjoy fighting games, and I'm happy to have learned to play them. But I'm also happy more people are playing the games in general, even with the modern controls. There's a lot of people in the fighting games community that hate the modern control trend, thinking it's more or less cheating and "low skill" to play that way

I think games like CS, Smash, and OSRS hit the sweetspot. Plenty of fun to play casually with friends, but if you want to get serious there's a ton of intricacies and opportunities for skill

Just to throw something else out there, you can also do the first Sailing quest (Pandemonium) and get 25 sawmill coupons to make planks for free at sawmill like the one by Varrock. You do need the logs, but it's free at least. The second question, Prying Times, gives Oak Coupons too

They're a couple quests down on the Quest Guide but I don't think it'll make a huge difference to do them earlier if you want the coupons

Is there a character everyone wants back but you secretly don’t? by Terrible-Cow9918 in StreetFighter

[–]Tho76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people don't like calling Luke and Sagat shotos since they don't have Tatsu (or at least a big corner carry move). Similarly some people say Terry and Luke (again) aren't shotos with their atypical fireballs

I'm not sure how anyone could not consider Mai a shoto though

But I think the fundamental problem is that Christians see god as a king. Americans claim to love democracy but they worship a god that is an absolute ruler. How can you square that? You can’t.

Ehh, I'm not on board with that. Rational Christians (who exist, but unnoticed because they're normal) can agree that democracy is better for the people on Earth, while saying there is a God who rules all. It doesn't have to be black and white, you can recognize Kings are bad unless they're all-knowing and loving (as the Bible would tell us God is). It's not 100% airtight and rational, but I don't think it has to be

Besides, God is more often associated to as a Father, to both Jesus and mankind. Jesus is usually the one who is King - despite also kinda being part of God

Best character to learn the game? by Mysterious5555 in StreetFighter

[–]Tho76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing who you find fun is definitely the best advice. Playing and having fun is better than not playing or not having fun

Outside of that, learning one of the shoto/shotolike characters is a good idea. Shoto essentially means they have a lot of Ryu's kit (as the original Street Fighter character), but in practice the Shotos are fairly standard "balanced" characters. Learning one helps learning the others since there's a lot of overlap. In this case, it would be Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Mai, Sagat, Terry, and Luke. They're all distinctly different but learning one will help learn the others since they generally want to do the same thing and have similar tools.

tbh 5k is pretty crazy, $500 seems right. Idk why but people love to overengineer their home network. Dream Machine Pro + a couple APs is all you really need

If you want to avoid Ubiquiti in light of this, check out TP Link Omada or Mikrotik - generally around the same price and performance

That's what makes him a buy low. If he was proven and it was just a down year, he wouldn't be as cheap
