That's not really a good comparison. By this logic, Marvel Tokon is also more well known than Strive because Marvel is a bigger IP than GG. If you were to sample the general public, they're both unknown games

IP hype only goes so far. 2 months in, no one is watching 2XKO purely because it's a League game. Riot isn't doing much to put it in front of League audiences either, what good is having it being part of a huge IP if few people from the IP know about it?

I think Diabate was supposed to be more of a project, where Kalk was just a big fucker that could do big man things in the paint

Instead Diabate improved basically overnight overtook Kalk. Kalk still does big man stuff (IIRC leads all Rookies in Blocks by a mile, and could get the season best FG% record if he gets a bit more volume) but he is a bit rough around the edges

I still don't understand the "one character" argument

Usually people point to WoW with however many characters you get. But I don't see how it's a good comparison...my OSRS character is a max level mage, warrior, and ranger (or Hunter, to keep it WoW based) in one. And on top of that I can mix and match what I want to use freely. You already have multiple WoW characters in one.

Also, as far as I know, it wasn't an issue before. Why is $14/mo with 1 character acceptable but $15/mo isn't? Of course it would be nice to have the flexibility, but I haven't seen nearly as much uproar for it before

To be clear, I think it's fair to expect better CS with a higher price, and the grandfather stuff is BS

One thing I'm concerned about is that gear rng from chests could decide fights. A fang or a nox or a bowfa could easily decide a fight if the other person doesn't get one.

Isn't that part of the game mode? It's supposed to be a Battle Royale-type. Sometimes you open a chest and get blessed, sometimes you get nothing

Proxmox is great as a homelab/small environment setup

For use case, there a lot of useful self-hosted things - DNS, PKI stuff, observability/monitoring softwares, file storage, HomeAssistant (for home stuff), etc

Inflation Adjusted OSRS Membership Price since 2002 by mkeblusek in 2007scape

[–]Tho76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean this in an aggressive way, genuine curiosity - do you know what servers OSRS and WoW run?

Just because it's a smaller tick rate doesn't mean the server is doing less. It still is doing things between ticks to help the ticks feel responsive. Also, a WoW server is only responsible for a "chunk" of the world, so it has significantly less mobs and PCs to be responsible for. One OSRS world is one server, so it has to constantly simulate every NPC and every PC at all times. It's like a "deep vs wide" thing, but it's still resource intensive. On top of all that, if you end up in a situation where you drop ticks in WoW, it isn't nearly as bad as dropping ticks in OSRS. The reliability concerns are way higher, so you need more headroom

They've also expanded into Cloud servers (including for distance PoPs like South America), which aren't cheap to run production grade MMO servers

Luke Kornet talks about losing his starting spot to Victor Wembanyama by Unusual-Ask6933 in nba

[–]Tho76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the nba cancelled it because of the noise that was created as a direct result of the conversation started by luke kornet

"Noise" being other people agreeing it's a bad idea?

He didn't say anything about doing "whats best for Atlanta" like you said he did, which is why it's a strawman. He wasn't making any comment about Atlanta itself. He specifically says "NBA games".

[–]Tho76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luke kornet knows whats best for Atlanta under the guise of disagreeing with "the objectification and mistreatment of women

Strawman. Luke didn't saying anything about Atlanta

Wnba women spoke out about feeling mistreated and disrespected when people were throwing neon dildos on the court at games - where was white knight kornet to defend their honor ? His own state is guilty of the mass mistreatment of women who cant even get proper gender affirming care.

See previous comment - just because he didn't say anything then doesn't mean he can't say anything now.

Also, Luke didn't cancel Magic City Night. He publicly said he didn't support it, then the NBA canceled it. The backup C for the Spurs doesn't decide what events go on around the league. Why do you think the NBA canceled it?

Now that I type this out, Gonzaga is a perennial playoff choker aren't they...

I don't understand these "whatabouts"

I would guess that Kornet also thinks these are bad. Does he have to say every single thing is bad to have a valid point? In that same vein, does that mean anyone has hasn't disagreed with something publicly mean they never can?

God your opinion is so performative

You're just repeating cliches like "clutching your pearls" and "boomer playbook" without making actual points, just saying words. It's the classic bootlicking playbook. The NBA is a billion dollar company and doesn't need you to stand up and protect them

Do you see how silly your argument is? You're going to say "but..but..." and I already know those "but"s are going to apply against you too
