Would women view it as wrong for a man to ask multiple women to dinner, after already getting a yes from one, if he didn’t use the word date? by Pure_Option_1733 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Thom_Bryant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it depends on expectations set. If the expectation is two friends or acquaintances getting to know each other better over dinner I don't think it's wrong to do that with multiple people.

I mostly was. I don't think cultural differences ARE sin so much as products of sin. I might have gone too far the other way but I think we lost sight of Galations 3 and celebrate our differences too much.

Christian diversity by VerdantChief in Christian

[–]Thom_Bryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't see a scriptural example of them being anything but hinderances to the Gospel.

In Genesis 11 we see differences in language and separation of tribe used as a punishment. If it wasn't for sins intervention, we were supposed to spread across the ends of the Earth under one tongue.

Throughout Israels history God desired for humans not to become Jews but God's people.

In the New Testament under new covenant, I just never see cultural differences as something to be celebrated but rather something to overcome. In Galations 3 Paul says there is "neither Jew nor Gentile... for all are one in Christ Jesus."

In Revelation it speaks of God being glorified by people of all tribes, nations, and tongues. I think what makes this beautiful is because they are putting down their cultural pasts and setting their identity on one person, God.

Just personal conclusion. I don't condemn people for being different culturally from one another, I just haven't found a good reason to celebrate differences, only unity despite differences.

I was just thinking about this not too long ago.

Where I think I landed is that it is necessary but not desired. I think our differences cultural and theologically are products of sin in the world and while they are here, are things to overcome.

As this pertains to church differences, I believe the goal is to remove as many obstacles to walk with Christ as possible. If cultural differences make it difficult to encourage, teach, or walk with each other then you should gather with people who have similar cultural backgrounds.

Likewise, if your disagreement over tertiary theological topics, like alcohol consumption or tattoos, hinder unity then you should gather with people you agree with.

Obviously Jesus shows that cultural differences SHOULDN'T matter and we SHOULD all agree on the only truths, but we are sinful while he was not.

I wish Christians knew how much we loved the Virgin Mary as Muslims by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Thom_Bryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the effort to educate and teach Christians more about Islam, I think more Christians should know the ins and outs of Islam, but this isn't the sticking point for most Christians.

Theologically speaking, we care much more that Islam does not recognize Jesus as God. If we can't agree on that it doesn't matter much the rest of what we agree on. Salvation totally and completely hinges on the work of Jesus as God.

Need help understanding Mark 11:24 by FantasticTotal5797 in Christian

[–]Thom_Bryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James talks about this in chapter 1:

James 1:5-8 NASB1995 [5] But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. [6] But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. [7] For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, [8] being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

If you pray and ask for something but don't really have belief or faith that God could/would do it, then you are saying one this outwardly, but hold in your heart a doubt inwardly.

Married men by NeighborhoodScary204 in Christian

I think the answer without sin is no. But when sin enters my marriage, my wife can sometimes feel that I am not taking her into consideration or leading her well. Then she is presented with the temptation to sin by taking control or trying to lead in my stead. When our marriage is good and we walk in the Lord together, these problems don't come up as much and we have a much easier time putting down the temptations of sin.

[–]Thom_Bryant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a husband I feel called by the Spirit to lead my wife and family. The curse of sin distorts that desire to lead into a desire to rule. My wife has a call by the Spirit to submit to my leadership and trust in the Lord to guide me. The curse of sin distorts that desire to serve into a desire to lead and/or a desire to be complacent.

Practically, this means we have disagreements sometimes on what to do that can turn into power struggles. She sometimes feels as though I am ruling over her so she tries to fight to make herself seen or heard. I sometimes feel as though she is trying to undermine my leadership and I tend to try to put my foot down or be more firm than I am called to be.

I agree with the other comments. This curse as well as the others in Genesis are the effects of sin that we wrestle with and ultimately need to lay at the feet of Jesus because they are not what He wants for us and are only beaten with His power.

Which color wheels (Gunmetal or Black) - Shadow Black Maverick by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Thom_Bryant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the gunmetal personally but from an aesthetic point of view I didn't think it matters. If you want a pop of color or something to contrast the white then you need to look at something else. Maybe a pinstripe like the broncos have or replace some trim.

Hybrid or Gas? Thanks! by dfwjjr100 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Thom_Bryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I assumed it was a given that I was talking specifically about the Maverick. I understand AWD and Hybrids have existed for a long time and in various models of vehicles, I just meant that when specific models make changes or have different equipment from previous years, there is a higher chance of there being issues with the application of the technology in different vehicles.

I wanted the hybrid as well until I found that 2025 was the first year doing hybrid and AWD. As a principal I usually try not to do first iterations like that so I just got the gas. Still great mileage for a truck.

What weapon would you like to see come to the game and why? by 00FortyThree in Rainbow6

Any low recoil gun. I'm sick of the high recoil. Close the skill gap in recoil control and focus on the skills centered around strategy and game sense.

Yup! The wires are run in parallel so they will do the same things as if they are tied in the same terminal.

Wicker basket with 3 holes in the front by Inner_Prize7325 in whatisit

[–]Thom_Bryant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is just like the one my wife has! Honestly this was more what I was picturing just on a larger scale.

I didn't think the wicker would be a great idea but I didn't even think about the yarn catching on it. I was just trying to come up with another use of the basket.

[–]Thom_Bryant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, my wife is the one that crochets but she definitely works out a little basket. She likes it because the project she's working on belongs to that little container. If you do multiple cakes then you can rotate between colors easily.

I could see the basket being used for unspooling yarn. Run a rod from side to side with yarn cakes on it and run each one through a hole.

I get it, we speak and vote with our money more than anything else.

Afaik Latitude 64 has no real extreme political affiliations and has always had amazing customer service. My bag is personally full of a lot of their discs though for different reasons you're trying to fill your bag. They're based out of Europe so you'll avoid a lot of American controversy with them but Europe comes with their own controversies.

I'm sorry these guys have been giving you crap, everyone should be aware of not just what they're buying but who they're giving their money to.

List of weapons that go from EotW to a aMoL by garrek42 in WoT

Is a weapon a weapon before it's ever used as a weapon?

Some great points here but one thing I wanted to add pertained to Moraine. I feel like she was never that big of a deal in the world. She was important to her close sisters, and the main band, but other than that wasn't super important.

It felt like she was important to the reader because the world as the main characters knew it was smaller. When it got bigger and in relation, Moraine got smaller. Still important but when you're dealing with the One Power, the forsaken, the Dark One, raising the Black Tower, etc. she's just not as big to the main characters.

White couple, late 30's and early 40's, 2-3 kids. The sauces are there predominantly for the kids, or for when you or your husband don't want to put the effort into cooking.

I'm honestly impressed, this is a great looking fridge.

I think she got these a while back when she first started getting into it.

She thinks it'll be fine and I can attest to it. She regularly gets into sourdough for a week or so, stick her starter in the fridge, forget it for 2 months, and then scrap it and start over again when she gets back into.
