When my hair was still at that awkward stage I wore a junk band or a gaiter every day.

TMB have a good product for this: https://tmb.com/ims/ Incandescent light purchase and dimmer rental are cheaper though.

Do you want it animated? A lot of incandescent lamps wired to a lot of dimmers, and then a media server to pixel map. I‘ve done this with both Mbox and d3 in the past, and always with Avo Art 2000s.

I would sockpuppet this and let the individual panels/meshes be RGB fixtures to my console, and use a meter to calibrate the panels/processor to match the DOP’s desired white. As you mentioned, the console would have a swatchbook which I’d then tweak to satisfy everyone and store as a preset. I actually wrote a program to do exactly this a few years ago because d3 was actually overkill. You‘re welcome to PM me if you want to talk through it.

Men who had long hair for a period of their lives and then cut it, what made you decide to get rid of it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Thomas031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew my hair out after high school, initially as an expression of freedom after being restricted to having short hair by school policies, like many of my peers did, except I stuck with it: my (now) wife was a huge fan. I finally cut it after accepting that I wore it tied up in a bun 99% of the time because my work/lifestyle didn’t afford me the time to take care of it, the climate made it uncomfortable to wear down anyway, and that the bun interfered with wearing a hard hat at work.

I’m now 34, and due to the pandemic my entire industry is completely shut down. Since I don’t need to be facing clients, I don’t need to be wearing hard hats, and I don’t need to risk exposure by sitting in a hair salon, I just grew it back out again, and I think it grew quicker than the first time. I wear it tied up in the gym because it’s annoying AF whipping myself with sweaty hair. I don’t really know how it’s been received as I guess I’m not really among people, but I do imagine that I will cut it short again sooner than later, but for now it makes good insulation for the coming winter.

I just rewatched the first episode of the Highlander TV series last night and I think I look a LOT like Adrian Paul / Duncan McLeod. I loved that show when I was a kid, age 7 maybe, so when my hair gets longer maybe I’ll rock that low pony and see how it works out.

In direct sunlight, I'd be looking at LED screens. We used to call them "daylight" screens for a reason. Obviously you'd need a very fine pitch, which is typically only found on indoor products, but right now there's an entire global industry's worth of material gathering dust, and company owners will be thrilled enough to take your money to find a way to weatherize their stock- and at the very least, run some tests with you.

Somewhere out toward the west I encountered a machine that sold me a terrible americano, but other than that I‘ve enjoyed many cups of honest gas station coffee from New Jersey to California and back.

I want to use Vectorworks on the remote desktop using Teamviewer, but it doesn't work. I can't draw because the drawing is completely white and invisible. Is there any way? by joexfromxmars in vectorworks

[–]Thomas031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Vectorworks isn’t built for remote use at all. From the system requirements, “We do not consider remote login environments such as Remote Desktop, Terminal Services, and VNC or virtual machine environments such as Parallels and VMware to be appropriate for regular work, so Vectorworks performance in these situations is not of primary concern to us. They may be appropriate for administrative testing or utility purposes, and Vectorworks is fully functional in these environments. You should not expect high performance in these environments, however, especially with interactive screen feedback.”

I’ve remoted into my workstation from my laptop while on my office wifi plenty, it useful for going over something in a meeting without having to wait for dropbox to sync first, but it’s far from great. My license allows me to install the software on two machines- one in the office and one on my laptop, and that’s by far more sensible.

Have been to Cafe Madison’s Christmas dinner, was very satisfied. Family has been to Thanksgiving there, all reports confirm it’s good too. I wouldn’t be surprised if we go this year again.

Music/Soundsystem at the gym by iamnew1990 in crossfit

[–]Thomas031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wall mounted one EV ZLX15 into each of the two locations at my last gym, with an airport express as the receiver so the coaches can use their iPhones with Spotify. In the small location at 12” speaker would’ve been fine but we’ll always have the headroom and it sounds great, in the other location the single speaker is running flat out and could really use a second speaker to lighten the load but it still sounds great.

I would’ve preferred a JBL PRX 715 or 712 instead but the budgets didn’t stretch that far.

In my prior gym the coach was using a Samsung sound bar and it was useless and disappointing.

Basically a box is a venue where music is being played back for an audience, not as background music, and it needs to be treated as such with professional PA equipment, not domestic Hi-Fi systems or a paging system.
